I hope so, too! I enjoyed the show so we'll see. I'm excited to be closing in on being done with the books, but it's also a very weird feeling.
Holy crap Billy Summers is only a week away? It feels like FOREVER ago when it was announced and I thought it was a September release lol
I ended up enjoying The Outsider quite a bit! Time for me to reread a good chunk of The Institute this weekend.
Billy Summers arriving just in time for my birthday. Can’t wait. Also has anyone watched Liseys story? Thinking about starting it
I loooved it but seems like a lot of people didn’t. If you like the book I find it hard to imagine disliking the show.
About 200 pages into Billy Summers. I’ve thoroughly enjoyed it so far and am extremely curious what is in store for the remaining 300 pages.
punishing myself and rereading The Stand really though, I think it's probably his masterpiece. so many incredible character moments the plot is almost secondary and I'm not even bothered by the ending like most
I love The Stand. It's a really dense book but well worth the time it takes to read it. If by "bothered by the ending" you mean the literal deus ex machina, I feel like it's not really a deus ex machina though, if you take everything into consideration. The whole point is that the main characters were following a divine will, so you can't really fault the book if it solves the conflict by allowing said divine will to intervene. But that's my take on it. Anyway, Larry is my favorite. I like people that overcome their flaws.
I'm not actually against the deus ex in this book's case, moreso that the way it's done is fairly underwhelming, and honestly part of me feels like it's King writing himself an eject button cos the book is already so damn long, but there was some potential in keeping the Vegas confrontation going for just a bit longer fully agree though, Larry might be my all-time favourite King character. he's such a dick but you just always want him to be better, and it's so gratifying when he gets there
Finished BIlly Summers over the weekend so I am officially caught up on all of King's fiction releases! Feels weird haha.
Now I read the 500 other books I have haha. It'll be nice to go back to reading for fun though. Not that the podcast isn't fun, so I guess it's more like going back to reading without a deadline.
Just finished Billy Summers. I really liked it although I think the first half was better. I've told myself this before but I think I'll finally start the gunslinger series, been sitting on my shelf for too long.
I'm reading Christine and enjoying it a lot. I have a friend who hated it but idk why I have no realistic hope that I'll ever read all of his stuff. Maybe when I'm old and have more time
A Humble Exclusive: RED SCREEN by Stephen King (pay what you want and help charity) Humble Bundle has a never released short story for five dollars. I will report back on whether it's good. EDIT: Dope little horror story. Super short but obviously a good cause. I thought it might have ties to The Outsider, but it could also just be aliens.
Picked this up and put it on my list to read! So much for my King break after finishing Billy Summers
That is good news! I started The Stand series last night and I'm already fairly convinced that it will not be for me. Going to do an It Chapter Two rewatch tonight and then The Stand will be all I have left for now. As far as I know there aren't any other adaptations coming out once Chapelwaite wraps up unless I missed something announcing a date.
