Ah i loved Finders Keepers. About 250 pages into The Outsider at the moment. Did anyone watch the show? Worth checking out once I’m done? Or should I leave it a bit till the story isn’t so fresh in my mind?
1. Mr. Mercedes 2. Finders Keepers 3. End of Watch (just really didn’t feel this one compared to the first 2)
Just got to the spot where Brady smiles and knocks over a picture and I groaned and am screaming rn. Not in a bad way, but whaaaat.
Haven't posted the podcast episodes much here since I don't want to spam it with the link each week. So if anyone wants to keep up with those, here's the thread for both of my shows. Today's episode is on Desperation. Welcome to Geekdom/Chat Sematary • forum.chorus.fm I'll be starting Dark Tower IV hopefully by the end of the week if I can get another non-King book or two read before then.
Finished Finders Keepers. I love how both books ended with a picnic lol. Excited to start End of Watch tomorrow.
I love the Outsider. I felt the first half of that story was amazing! I made the mistake of not reading Finders Keepers & End I’d Watch which played a role in the 2nd half not living up to the first half for me. Enjoy! Side note: still think the Outsider is up there for my favorite front cover.
About time I read another King book - I only have a handful to go, so up next is The Talisman then Black House
Just finished up Wizard and Glass. I didn’t like it as much as others seem to, but there’s still a bunch of important stuff in it to propel the story forward. Ended up with a copy of If It Bleeds to review so that’s up next and then onto Bag of Bones.
It's like my 3rd favorite DT book. The crystal ball foreshadowing bit is one of my favorite moments in the series.
absolutely incredible. I feel like I'm a minority thinking The Gunslinger is one the best Dark Tower books, but I just absolutely love that weird mix of high fantasy, surreal desert western and character drama that book and Wizard and Glass have. never read anything like it
I liked The Gunslinger! I actually liked the first 3 more than Wizard and Glass. I’m probably going to reevaluate my ratings of them though once I’ve read all of the books because I think looking at the story as a whole and the role each book played in it will be interesting.
totally fair, even though I'm not as hot on Drawing of the Three as most people, The Waste Lands is probably the most purely entertaining/thrilling book in the series. imo there's a dip with 5 and 6, but the last book is incredible and the ending is perfect
edit: Minor Dark Tower ending spoiler warning.. Weird story. I actually got really into the Dark Tower series that when I finally got to the climax of the last book I took a hit of acid I had saved for the moment and whoa. I wasn’t sure I’d still be able to read but I lost myself in the book and it was so surreal and exalting. Stephen King described the field of roses so well that I could actually smell it. To this day whenever I pass roses the smell immediately reminds me of the field of roses at The Dark Tower like I was there or something.
Placed my order for If It Bleeds last night. King’s short story collections haven’t disappointed yet. Bit disappointed to learn the title story is a Holly Gibney story, as I’ve never really liked the character. The Outsider really dropped off for me once Terry dies and it becomes a Holly story
