Oh hey now. Curious by this. I wasn't in love with the book, but hoping they can execute this well. In reality, I'm hoping for a remake of the Shining lol. I know that might be at an "untouchable" level, but since he hates the movie anyways, maybe down the road it could happen?
I also wasn't super into DS, outside of Danny's character. The trauma/alcoholism stuff really hit hard.
I still have quite a while before I read Doctor Sleep. Excited to see the trailer still though. In other King updates, I started reading Misery last night and I’m enjoying it so far.
Fuck yes. Surprised that it's actually a sequel to the movie though, that's going to screw some shit up, like Dick Halloran for starters.
So I’m finally diving into the Stand. Can someone explain the initial outbreak to me? Why does it kill everyone in the army base seemingly instantly? The disease takes a few days at least to kill from what I can tell so far. Was it an emergency failsafe to ensure the disease, if ever accidentally released, can’t spread?
Oh definitely. The friendship of all the kids drives the story! What I like most is how much depth he builds into the town of Derry. Lots of history and building which really is cool.
It's been years since I read it so I'm just going off of assumption here but your failsafe idea sounds right, I would also think that maybe they were exposed to the strain completely unfiltered through other people's systems, like it would affect them more since they didn't catch it from a person.
I’m reading The Stand. I’m only on chapter four and already he’s used the n word. It’s not even in a racist character’s dialogue, but as narration. It’s jarring coming from the author’s voice.
Finally made it to the IT episode for the podcast! Chat Sematary | IT (1986) | Episode 31 Been having a lot of fun with this. Hoping to finish up Misery soon.
I’m always in some cycle of listening to It. I love Steven Weber’s voice and the story so much that it’s almost weirdly calming. I just throw the audiobook on whenever I have some time to kill and eventually make my way back through.
