You are in for a treat! It’s a good one. I read Cujo a long time ago and forget most of it but Different Seasons has some classics in it!
So between my mom and I, we only need like 7 more of King's books to have everything (as far as his fiction books go). Debating on buying 5 of them on Thriftbooks today (Finders Keepers, Joyland, The Colorado Kid, Full Dark No Stars and Just After Sunset). Then it looks like we'd just need Sleeping Beauties and The Outsider. Update: Bought the 5 books. No clue where I'm going to put them, though.
Just completed my collection the other day with Sleeping Beauties and the Outsider. In the same boat. My mom had almost all of his books when I was growing up and when I graduated college she found me hardcovers of most of them. That's a lot of fucking books.
Yeah, it definitely is haha. Luckily when my mom bought them, she was getting the mass market paperbacks so those don't take up quite as much space. But we'd find hardcovers of what we didn't have for like $1-2 at used bookstores and libraries so it was hard to pass those up.
This is just an idea I’m tossing around, but I have a couple questions and this thread seems like a great place to ask them. 1. Would anyone be interested in a Stephen King podcast that goes through the books, shows, and movies chronologically? Comics too probably. 2. Would anyone here want to guest on said podcast?
my mom called me to ask if I could pick something up at B&N for her, of course I was like sure, it's closer to me than them. I blame my mom for the three B&N classics hardcovers I just added to my collection of books on the floor until I find places for them. ugh! haha
a writer for the guardian did a re-read but unfortunately he only got as far as rose madder Rereading Stephen King | Books | The Guardian
For the past 3 years I have struggled to find a normal copy of The Green Mile. Weekly trips to used book stores, visiting various Barnes & Nobles and I could always only find the mass market paper back copy. Today I found a nearly brand new hardcover and am PUMPED! Also grabbed From A Buick 8 for literally $1.
The problem is that it's sort of a mild spoiler. I'll throw it in spoiler tags. The Bill Hodges trilogy (Mr Mercedes, Finders Keepers, End of Watch). I also think there's a connection to Dr Sleep but it's not as important as the Bill Hodges trilogy, which is super important and spoiled in The Outsider, so going back wouldn't work out as well
Man I’m about 700 pages into the uncut version of The Stand and I am not digging it. Normally I just like to spend time with his writing and his characters, but I’m not enjoying much of either here. Everyone is finally starting to meet up and talk to each other, so I’m counting on him to really bring it home. I’ll probably like the first half more if he ties everything together
Crowdsourcing title ideas for the podcast. The Losers Club is sadly already taken, so hit me with suggestions! Also, if there's anyone who would want to guest on it, hit me up about that as well. Soooo many books and adaptations to discuss.
Speaking of Joe Hill, stumbled upon this interesting piece today https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/morning-mix/wp/2018/08/07/a-tantalizing-theory-from-stephen-kings-son-shark-thriller-jaws-holds-the-clue-to-an-unsolved-1974-
