Have about ten hours left in The Outsider. Digging it so far.

The Long Walk gets pretty brutal and it's such a cool concept of a story. I love King's "smaller" books like this or Gerald's Game and Misery. Characters put into tight corners who have to accept the (seemingly) inevitable. Makes them feel like a nightmare.

I'm next in line at my library for The Outsider. Can't wait!!

Just finished The Outsider last night. Loved it! Freaked out when Holly was brought into the fold. Loved that trilogy. I've enjoyed the majority of King's works that I've read, but I've really been into his recent works that have delved into the mystery side of things on top of the horror elements. (Namely, this and the Bill Hodges trilogy) Hoping that with how things ended in this one, this will lead into some more stories with either Ralph and/or Holly making a return once again.

fudge... Perhaps I should have finished the Bill Hodges trilogy.
Just got to Holly's introduction and learned Bill croaked. I'm debating on pausing The Outsider, to quickly finish the third book before jumping back in...
    Is that a good idea?

Yeah it's been shitty because I really want to warn everyone to read that but that in and of itself is a huge spoiler that I loved coming to as a surprise and wouldn't want to ruin it. But if you haven't read it then it doesn't mean much. Personally I would recommend going back and finishing, a lot of the book feels like it could be a 4th in the series, especially since Finders Keepers spent a long time away from the series protagonists too.

Yeah I read only Mr. Mercedes if the trilogy before the Outsider...wish I knew!

But hey, I LOVED both books a lot. Really a big fan of these two.

Side question here, has anyone watched the Mr Mercedes show? I really want to but don’t want to change my entire TV service just to watch it!

Also, just finished the Outsider and wow. It has all the makings of classic King and his more modern-true crime feel melded into an awesome book.

If you have AT&T for cell service, they’re apparently going to give a streaming “skinny bundle” of their TV service free to all customers in the coming weeks. It will probably include Audience Network.

That’s great, I do use them for cell! I’ll hold off until then!

25 pages into The Outsider. Man, this book is huge.

Don't worry, it'll go by quick. Once I got sucked into the story I think I read the entire book in less than a week.

Man if you think The Outsider is huge you must not have read The Stand, IT, etc.

Just started The Long Walk yesterday, really excited to dig into it.

I read IT last spring, but it was a tiny (although 6" deep!) paperback which meant for easier reading on the bus and train. The Outsider is like breaking out the Necronomicon on public transit.

Enjoy The Long Walk! I just finished it a few weeks ago and really enjoyed it.

Ah I see what you mean, hardcovers are pretty unwieldy sometimes. Thanks I'm enjoying it so far. I'm excited to dig into more of King's stuff. I've read probably 15 or so of his books but about half of that is comprised of The Dark Tower.

190 pages into The Ousider I did not see Terry getting shot down heading into his arraignment. I have no idea where the book can go from here!

Has anyone listens to the Stephen King Cast or Losers Club podcasts? I am gonna dive in starting with their respective Outsider reviews to listen to once I finish the book this week.

Had no idea there was a Stephen King thread.

The Running Man is still my favorite Stephen King book.

Don't want to spoil anything (plus it's still under embargo), but I watched the first episode of Castle Rock last night. I have three more that I can watch and all I will say is that I think Stephen King fans will definitely find it interesting.

Yeah, I'm covering it for Hidden Remote so I figured I'd ask for them haha. Not sure if I'll get the others closer to the release date or what, but it's still nice being able to watch and sit with it a while before having to write about it. Usually I'm writing during/right after a show.

I forgot ALL ABOUT IT. Would it be wise to read particular books first before seeing the show?
