Think i give the show a B overall. Mostly good, some bits i found clunky. Very different than the book, which is thoroughly great and i don’t even enjoy reading fiction most of the time.
Binged it this week, fuuccckkkking hell. Incredible performances across the board, but holy shit is the child version of Kirsten phenomenal. I was so worried we weren't going to have a reunion between her and Jeevan, when they finally saw each other it destroyed me. I would let Mackenzie Davis kill me if it made her happy
man I just finished the book and good god it was phenomenal. it also did not take almost any of the turns I expected narratively, can't wait to watch the show and see what changed
Finished this up last night. This was very good, though I can't say I was ever fully engaged 'present-day' storyline as much as the flashback episodes and sequences. I really loved this take on the post-apocalyptic world though. It's less focused on the violence and survival aspects of it, but more on how we cope with the grief, guilt and trauma of surviving. I'm gonna add the book to my reading list.
This show was yet another case where I'd watch an episode, be completely blown away and wonder who directed it to then see "Directed by Hiro Murai" in the credits. He's got to be my favorite television director right now.
This show was a gift to have just rewatched. Having the full story and context for the flashbacks and occasionally confusing character motivations, everything fits together so perfectly. Time to follow up with all the people in my life I’d recommended it to who I know never watched it. Also the Bill Callahan drop in ep 8 is such a cheat code. Just hooting and hollering
For Christmas my wife got me a t-shirt with the astronaut on it and it says “I remember damage.” Going to wear that shirt out.
