Are they for sure only gonna do a season based on the book? Or is there any talk of expanding beyond the source material like Leftovers did?

  6. This is excellent so far.

This show is so goddamn good that it is making other shows that I am enjoying look bad by comparison. Like The Wheel of Time on Prime. I keep making excuses for that show and being like "well they only have an hour for each episode" and then this show keeps cranking out one hour chunks of television that are honestly like little mini masterpieces. The storytelling is so assured here, and the show just looks absolutely stunning. This is phenomenal.

Just finished ep 5. What a great episode of television. Show so far has been fantastic. I loved the book and this has been a pleasant surprise. Adaptations can be so hit or miss.

I loved the book, I'm on Episode 4 of the show and am enjoying the changes made from the book but I'm interested to see how they handle the prophet compared to the book.

E8 was probably the weakest episode so far IMO. Something about the tone was weird and some of the dialogue felt cringe-y. I can’t explain it, just felt like a different show for a bit. Luckily, it was redeemed by a killer E9.

This isn't really important at all, but I was just curious if I was the only one - I read a review of the show that mentioned Arthur Leander as being the first person we see in the show to die of the Georgian flu, but I completely didn't get that at all. I legitimately thought he died of some sort of cardiac event on the stage at what ended up being just a weird time right before almost the whole rest of the world was about to die too. Even typing that out now I can see that I think I just missed something that was supposed to be pretty obvious.

  20. Yeah, my memory of the book and impression from the show was that Arthur's death was not related to the flu and just happened to coincide with everything else.

there have been a number of changes but yes i assumed he was the first notable figures to die from the pandemic

In the book it's a heart attack and In the show when clark calls miranda he says he died of a heart attack on stage. I don't think it was the flu, given how contagious it was it seems unlikely that Kirsten and Jeevan came away without it considering their close proximity to Arthur at his time of death.

I just thought it was funny how the writer of the article stated it so matter-of-factly and it literally never even crossed my mind.

This last episode with Jeevan being a doctor with the pregnant women was absolutely incredible. I was completely devastated during parts and laughing out loud at other parts. I actually teared up a little when Jeevan is helping deliver the baby and when he hugs Frank.
