don't think i ever showed this off when i got it, but on a related note, found this VHS set for about $12 last summer in an abandoned train station turned thrift shop in NJ. box is a tiny bit beat up, but it's got all 3 unaltered OT films in widescreen prior to the SE releases. don't have a VCR, but it's a cool collectable, nonetheless.

I had something like this when I was a kid but we literally wore out the VHS tapes, they wouldn’t play anymore lmao

i guess that was the advantage of DVDs at the time. unless you scratch them heavily (and their scratch resistance is still a lot better than Blu-ray and UHD) or encounter disc rot, they were less-likely to wear out. i have no clue what condition these tapes are in, they're mainly a display piece, haha. i'm not a despecialized purist like some folks are, but it would be cool to have the unaltered versions to watch when Disney eventually does rereleases for them over the next few years.

I think my favorite memorabilia piece I have are some Ralph McQuarrie prints from ROTJ. Found them on eBay for pretty cheap surprisingly. I just love all of his concept art

Me being 11 years old trying to explain to my parents how the widescreen version maintains the cinematic integrity of the picture even though it doesn’t fill the entire screen.

I've been working on going through some of the canon novels lately and I'm really enjoying them so far. I'm going in chronological timeline order and so far I've read:
    - Master and Apprentice (Qui-Gon and Obi-Wan story, absolutely LOVED this one. It did a great job building Qui-Gon's character and building some context for his steadfast belief in the "chosen one" prophecy)
    - The Living Force (unfortunately really didn't like this one. A story about the Jedi Council going on a pretty minor mission pre-TPM, which I wouldn't mind usually, but I didn't like how the characters were written. Felt too "funny" and the dialogue was not Star Wars-y to me... Yoda didn't even talk weird most of the time)
    - Brotherhood (Absolutely fantastic, literally feels like it could be Episode 2.5. Anakin gets knighted, Ventress is introduced and the Clone Wars really begin in earnest)

I'm almost done with Dark Disciple now, which was adapted from an unproduced Clone Wars arc, and it really feels like this is so essential to the show that I'm completely shocked that they didn't try to adapt this when the show came back for S7. It's amazing

I have a whole pile of other ones and I'm excited to get to more

Big recommend on Lost Stars as a really effective one off (also written by the author of Master and Apprentice) and Light of the Jedi to see your interest in the high republic series. I LOVED the entire thing, but most people will either read light of the Jedi and let that be that or go all in.

Honestly it'd be funnier to just keep cranking out the Sheev's at this point. If you're gonna be a bear, be a Grizzly

They coulda had such an easy way of being alive if the Palpatine clone thing was the plan from the get. Have movie 2 focus on an imperial effort to clone him and end on the bummer of them succeeding and then we have everything setup for movie three.
