  1. At the end of the day, JJ is the one behind TROS (with clear interferences behind the scenes when you see the very questionable end results), not Rian. The blame should rest on the former along with Disney.

  2. I think I'll do a rewatch at some point for nostalgia's sake. The multiple showings for TFA remain some of my favorite memories ever. I assume The Last Jedi will be bittersweet considering the potential it showed for the following instalment was completely squandered anyway. Nervous for TROS as I've never been able to bring myself to watch it a second time.

I don't agree with this and I think people tend to misremember Luke as this big good force and don't remember that he attacked Vader in rage and was just as susceptible to the Dark Side as anyone else. He's a human being and fallible.

People who think sequel Luke didn’t fit with OT Luke have never understood Luke. I would die on this hill.

even hotter take: Rian's vision for Luke's characterization matches what George wanted for the ST better than the other two films

I am foggy on his vision beyond a reclusive Luke and midichlorians. But, I’ll agree anyway. Haha

no worries. George's vision was vague and inconsistent based on the multiple descriptions he gave over the years, but Luke being an angry hermit who cut himself off from the Force after a new movement arose from the ashes of the Empire and reluctantly trained a female apprentice was one of the few ideas that stuck

I didn't like the sound of Lucas' sequel story with Darth Maul being a crime lord and taking over as the new bad of the trilogy. But, Luke reviving the Jedi Order would have been good to see with Leia then becoming the new supreme chancellor.

I feel like the debate around TLJ and the sequel trilogy has never really stopped and we’ll never really be able to assess it because of that. People’s opinions are too entrenched. People need to move on, watch other things for a while and then revisit it if they want with an open mind to see it their opinion actually changed.

this is where i've ended up re: the ST, tbh (even though TLJ is top 3 SW for me)

Disney is going to market TF out of that film, haha. Can’t imagine what their ad spend for it will be.

Trailer for Mandalorian and Grogu is allegedly dropping within the next 15 minutes or so.

No reason to not expect a late November/early December drop for the first teaser

That’s been my thought as well. Expecting for Avatar: Fire and Ash, but the hype just got to me. I’m not perfect, okay?
