Haley Joel as Anakin is great because realistically he could have been cast in that role for the original film

Lyco sounds too much like Ezra. Really distracting me.

i think he actually auditioned, and when they went with Jacob Lloyd he ended up getting Sixth Sense, instead. probably better for his career overall, as he would’ve been working with the same not-so-great material as the prequels, and he can still do fun stuff like this.

    More Ventress, please.

The Cad Bane episodes were a major snooze fest for me.

An animated show about the establishment of The Path would be so boss.

If you had to pair a lightsaber with Luke's X-Wing helmet would you choose the Graflex/Skywalker saber (blue) or the ROTJ (green) saber?

I don’t think we ever see Luke using a lightsaber in his pilot gear. But based on a bunch of toys that always give him the blue saber, I would choose that one.

i really love the green ROTJ saber more, but i agree blue feels more fitting for that outfit

Is his X-wing helmet different from the snowspeeder helmet? I'd say blue. He uses his lightsaber with the helmet on in ESB.

Oh, he does briefly use it to cut open the AT-AT.

he also flies the X-Wing to Dagobah and Cloud City with the blue saber, while they don’t show what he flies in ROTJ with the green one.

I just realized that the helmet I have is not Luke's helmet but a generic X-Wing pilot helmet so now I have to re-think my whole plan

watched TOTU tonight. cool stuff and the Ventress episode were great, but gotta say I really preferred how TOTJ was almost like a series of minimalist character pieces. it's kinda shifted to just feeling like short Clone Wars episodes now

You can always paint the details for Luke's helmet on the one you have. Could be a fun project.

Biggest thing I am looking forward to about that Darth Maul animated series next year is Qi'ra potentially returning outside of the comic book medium.

People who live and die by canon in these franchises need to be studied. Its fictional! Even looking at human history, there are so many different tellings of myths. Just think of it like that, pick your favorite version and move on.

Not to mention over the last 13 years or whatever it's been and hundreds of pieces of media, there are like 3 or 4 instances that I've heard about of things not matching up perfectly. Lucasfilm story group has done a pretty incredible job of keeping the cannon story in tact. I also remember seeing an interview with Filoni where he said Lucas had told him there is a hierarchy to which types of media determines cannon story events.

I mean, I think canon is important in the sense that it allows so many stories to be connected and not have major conflicting events or elements. It allows stories to have a deeper meaning or enable to have far more detailed context as well as lets the audience see longer character arcs.

Having an established canon is a good thing. Being able to watch Andor s2e7-9 and then watch Rebels s3e18 and have the events match up is awesome. Even if you don’t view her speech as I described a few posts back, while the words don’t match, the intent and context remains the same. There isn’t any real reason to be upset that Gilroy updated the speech to match his show and update it to feel relevant to what’s going on in our world today. The story didn’t change.

As early as when the Force Awakens book came out, they said that books and such are considered canon, but only until a movie may change that. At the time, I don’t know if even Mando was even an idea at the time. I would say it’s fair to say the books and comics are canon until a movie or show says otherwise.

There’s nothing weird about enjoying storytelling that has a long running canon. But Obiwan himself is a collection of half truths and hyperbole, so it’s okay to have some grey areas.

I don’t disagree with any of this. What I take issue with is the people who get outraged when things don’t line up perfectly or if things are changed from one medium to the next. In a perfect world, it would all line up, but I think it’s also great that if different creators come in and have slightly different visions, they are beholden to something that might conflict with that.

i think that's the case as well with novelizations of the original 6 films as well. everything in those books is canon unless it diverges from what's in the movies. for anything released after the Disney purchase/Legends decanonization, extra details in books will generally add additional context to the films unless something on the screen contradicts the books (i.e. differences in Ahsoka's experiences with Order 66 in the Ahsoka novel and TCW S7).
