Love Taika as a filmmaker and while I think his style is perfect for the Marvel universe, I'm not crazy about it for Star Wars. If there's one thing I don't like it's Star Wars getting too tongue-in-cheek. Hopefully it doesn't lean into that too heavily.

I knew they were gonna make some announcement about a new project today haha

 

While I'd still be more exited for news on the Rian Johnson trilogy, Taika has a unique voice and did a great job on The Mandalorian, so I'm excited nonetheless. His style of humor is pretty similar to the humor we got in TLJ (though I know a lot of people list that among their complaints) and he's not an overly nostalgic director . Plus Krysty Wilson-Cairns seems like a promising writer. I'm interested if it's the start of a series or standalone. Also if they're still aiming for that Dec 2022 date.

 

I honestly don't know if i need MORE Chewbacca. Honestly, I wouldn't even mind a break from Ahsoka and Maul, though they're my two favorite characters. If I could get any show it would be where in the world is Ezra Bridger, or Luke's adventures immediately following Jedi.

 

I also need a Fallen Order sequel.

 

Pretty sure this is confirmed, if not officially it’s been spoken about enough to be a pretty sure thing.

 

Just give me something new and unique. I definitely have faith in Taika to deliver that.

 

Despite all the cancellations and push backs, I can’t help but be excited for another film and series. As a Star Wars fan, “I know all about waiting”.

 

This is the kinda thing that can get me excited about Star Wars again after ... well ... that Rise movie.

 

I hope both Taika Waititi and Leslye Headland both get to bring new characters/stories to life.

 

There's no way this is hitting that Dec 2022 slot. Taika is going to be busy with Thor: Love and Thunder.

 

It was pretty unrealistic to start with, especially now.

 

I think they'll end up skipping the 2022 date and have this hit on the 2024 date. Five years is a good sized SW movie gap anyway. Who knows though. Clone Wars has definitely reignited my love of the franchise, but I'd still love for them to take their time and avoid a rushed production.

 

Taiki is a good director but I’m not that excited for a new Star Wars right now. I’m burnt out after episode IX

 

Movies are def the one Star Wars thing I’m not excited for anytime soon. Give me more TV.

 

As someone in the seeming minority that prefers Star Wars as a film experience, but who also feels incredibly burned by Disney’s sharp turn from TLJ into Solo & TRoS...

Knowing that the top person on my very short list of directors who I’m confident can make a Star War work is (currently) signed on is so very exciting.

All the pulpy fun of Ragnarok make me so excited for what he’ll do. Gimme.
