Apparently “people” are already negatively reviewing Ep 9 on RT. Can we just pretend from now on that RT doesn’t exist? The audience reaction is completely useless. Really tired of the discourse.

Eh whatever. I’m kind of tired about talking and hearing about the 1%-5% of fans that are immature. They are never going to go away and I don’t feel like letting something bother me (which admittedly it has) that I can’t control.

Right now they have way too much power in the narrative. So much of Star Wars talk these days is about the fandom itself and it’s why it’s been so exhausting the last year and a half. It really has been like a war. There’s too much negativity in the world already for it to adulterate Star Wars for me. I think I’m just going to not entertain any thoughts about those fans and ignore those conversations from here on out.

I’m adopting the “not fighting what you hate. Save what you love.” Mindset.

I try to just ignore that type of BS and just drop in here every once and a while to say things like I AM SO DAMN HYPED FOR EPISODE IX I FEEL LIKE I AM 14 YEARS OLD GETTING READY FOR EPISODE I.

Sitting in the packed theater back in 1999 as the lights went down and the Lucasfilm logo came up on screen and the fanfare kicked in is possibly my all time top moment in a movie theater. The only thing I can think of that even comes close would maybe be watching The Fellowship of the Ring in theaters the first time.

I saw SW so early in my life and so often that I thought it was the music specifically for SW for a good chunk of my childhood. I remember the first time that I realized a movie wasn’t like referencing SW as a joke when it played I just facepalmed for like an hour.

Listening to the latest Jedi Council right now, Harloff keeps saying he thinks Palpatine is coming back for episode 9. I'm pretty sure I would hate that if it was anything but a flashback.

i've seen a lot of speculation on this too but it's been after they announced that McDiarmid is coming to SWC, but he's there nearly every time they do it so it's not really different. I just don't see how Palpatine would have any relevance in this story. It would make more sense for a Vader appearance than Palpatine.

I’ve heard a lot of Palpatine speculation. I just can’t see how in a 3 act film they’re gonna be able to reintroduce him, tie up all the sequel characters, the saga as a whole, wrap Palpatine up (again) and have it make coherent sense. Hologram, sentinels, maybe even a flashback, if done well sure. Cloning/resurrection/etc, highly skeptical. Don’t see it happening.

The only character they should bring back from the prequels is Padme, in this essay I will

Force Ghost Anakin haunting Kylo would be cool. He's been looking to Vader for guidance and then here comes Anakin guilt tripping him.

I just can't see how or why you would bring Palpatine back into the present. Supreme Leader Kylo is much more interesting.

In the EU there was a clone of Emperor Palpatine. If they went that route it would make sense.

If Nute Gunray doesn't have an essential part of Episode IX, I am out.

With respect to the EU fans out there, I would hate that soo, so much (not that that matters). I know cloning is canon, but I just don't see any way they can make that work in this trilogy without feeling shoehorned.

I totally agree that Supreme Leader Kylo is more interesting. I would rather there not be another shrouded hooded figure bad guy in the mix. I agree with most of the opinions on here.

That said, I would really love Palaptines speech about Darth Plagues to be tied in. I’d be okay with somebody coming back to life as long as it’s done welland doesn’t undercut Kylos position as the main bad guy.

Also it doesn’t have to be Plagues or Palpatine on screen necessarily, but simply bringing back the manipulation of life and saving somebody from dying that Anakin was trying to do with Padmé. That whole power/storyline never manifested and I think it would be rad to tie that in somehow.

The whole “finish what you started” line in The Force Awakens was ambiguous but it’s presumably talking about Vader overthrowing Palpatine (which I totally just realized Anakin LITERALLY overthrows Palpatine in ROTJ lol) and taking over as the Emperor.

So really in TLJ he does finish what Vader started. He successfully killed his father (which Luke couldn’t do). He successfully overthrew his manipulator and leads the galaxy now (which Vader couldn’t do). But how fantastic would it be if he finally finishes what ANAKIN couldn’t and find a way to manipulate life.

To that point, Im all for not redeeming Kylo, but if Kylo does find a way to manipulate life and in the end sees the light and uses his powers to bring back the one he loves and forgives. His father, and the saga ends with all our characters looking off to a sunset or something with Hans arm around Leia (shot from behind obviously) with Luke smiling next to them I’d probably cry so much that I’d dehydrate and die in the theater

It sounds ridiculous but I think Harrison would be on board since hed only be in a couple scenes and wouldn’t have to come back again or anything. And also there could be deleted footage of Han and Leia from TFA that could be used.

I definitely never assumed "finish what you started" was implying he means to overthrow Snoke. I assumed it meant finish what Vader started in effort to destroy the Rebels/now Resistance and control the galaxy.

Just gimme Kylo turning 10,000% evil and just slaughtering everyone and everything with no allies and just on a mission to destroy the force somehow. I want him to rule everything like a dictator.

True. It could mean a lot of things which is why it’s such a good line
