This ends at the part where Luke grabs Kylo's lightsaber, right? I feel like this isn't the natural ending, and whoever is running the page just hasn't uploaded the full ending to the comic yet.

Yeah, I believe there is more coming, but I'm not entirely sure.

I'm loving that graphic adaptation of DOTF. If anyone's interested, I put together all the strips from the first issue (since that's the only one he's fully finished with color and all) into a PDF file so I could easily read it on my ipad.

I recently rewatched both The Rise of Skywalker and Sonic The Hedgehog and it is baffling just how much more character development is in Sonic compared to RoS lmao

Sonic was 100% better than TRoS

So from a macro perspective, what are the main reasons why ROS became such a POS? At what point was it destined to be a failure? Was it down to the decisions of one person? Disney as a whole? Or because they set a tough timeline and had to rush? Wanting to include too much fan service?

Honestly I think the majority of problems come from a.) absolutely no forethought or planning for where the story was going to go, and b.) absolutely no characterization or arc for any of the new characters (or a complete reversal of the closest we get to arcs/characterization from movie to movie) plus a uh... less than great approach to the characters from the OT. Didn't help that the main star of the series, Rey, just like... gets stuck in this "who are my parents" storyline for all three films that just ends in disappointing returns. That's territory that should have been (and pretty much was) covered and closed in TFA, which would have allowed Rey to grow and progress more in new stories in the following two movies.

    My two cents.

I really liked the parts many people hated about 8 (the casino and all that), but I thought the ending was pretty bad, there’s no way I’d call it the best SW movie

It all goes back to Kathleen Kennedy, who began this endeavor without a plan and allowed it to go severely off the rails. Then blame rests with JJ and Terrio, who threw out all of the fantastic, interesting decisions made by Rian Johnson in The Last Jedi so that they could retcon Rey into being from a Famous Family. Those are really the three people most responsible for TRoS being a horrible mess that retroactively ruins the previous two films.

Big part of the issue imo was the backlash to TLJ, flop of Solo, and Lucasfilms decision to out of nowhere decide to tie up all nine films/ignore much of TLJ. Never once before Solo did they claim or market IX would be the end of the saga. Tall order to tie up one the entire saga when like others have mentioned there was no larger plan and no real setup to conclude them all prior to IX. Contributing factors like Carries passing are unfortunate, but I attribute most of the issues to Disney/Kathleen/JJ caving into the vocal minority.

    Things have changed.

I sorta understood from the start of the Disney era that the sequel trilogy would always be the end of the Skywalker story, culminating in IX. The blueprint had been established that the first three films were the middle, the second three the start, and then three more would be the end.

Maybe that was just me making stuff up and getting too attached to trilogies though.

They definitely could have wrapped up the Skywalker/Solo era with the third trilogy while also creating new characters to carry their torch in future stories.

They absolutely did not do that with these movies lol

The decision of what was Finn’s reveal was also terrible. It was pretty clear from the first movie that he had some force sensitivity or was destined to. And it was clear across the first two movies that if anyone should have had a love story with Rey it should have been him.

As novel as TFA is, and as intermittently thoughtful as TLJ is, I think the damage was done when Disney threw out George Lucas’s treatments.

Not that he is only the only one who could shepherd forth something rich enough to coexist with 1-6, but it was the decision that this was going to be a cash in.

I like em, but I like them like I like Rogue Squadron and the Lando books. They’re just content
