Titanic's screenplay is very weak, and Leo is horrible in it, but it's a special effects masterpiece.

“You’ve never been stung by a bee, have you?”

“Bees are genetically designed to recognize royalty.”

    “Bees don’t lie.”

I already like this mess more than The Rise of Skywalker.

Cloud Atlas is literally my favorite film of all time and Jupiter Ascending is silly fun. Wachowskis rule.

I’ve only liked 1 Wachowskis film and that is the first matrix.

Admittedly, Avatar is a strange beast but I am not down with the James Cameron bashing. I genuinely enjoy 7 out of his 8 narrative films (I've never seen Piranha II: The Spawning) to one degree or another, and I would argue that a handful of them are classics. I'd probably put Avatar at the bottom of his filmography and I still think it has a lot going for it. It just also happens to have major problems. Titanic I absolutely love unabashedly, warts and all.

I have a ton of respect for The Wachowskis even if their tastes don't really line up with mine a lot of the time. Like I can admire Speed Racer from afar more than I actually enjoy watching it, but I do love that they made it. Same with Jupiter Ascending. Cloud Atlas however is a bonafide masterpiece, and Sense8 is absolutely incredible.

This Jupiter Ascending film wasn’t quite as charming as I hoped. Didn’t quite hold my attention all the way through, unfortunately. It had its moments, but Mila “Jupiter” Kunis needed more fun “earth girl out of her element” energy to bring me through. Some fun design stuff, though could’ve used more color imo. Needed more personality, more fabulousness. Still better than TROS, of course.

I think my favorite sequence was the whole space DMV bit. Putting that kinda mundane human experience into a genre context always rules.

Looking at Cameron's directing filmography and he has zero misses as far as im concerned. Although to be fair I haven't seen Piranha 2: The Spawning.

I’m going to take a guess and say they do TROS at some point.

Cloud Atlas is absolutely atrocious...not sure what anyone sees in that film. I haven’t read it but I’m 10000% sure the book is a much better medium for that story

Cloud Atlas is admirably ambitious and like most Wachowski films, empathetic and human. I really like it.

The Wachowskis brand of hyper-earnestness is certainly not for everyone. At their best they're transcendent and at worst I at least appreciate them. I'd so much rather watch a Wachowski trainwreck than something like a Zach Snyder movie

Snyder's Dawn of the Dead is good enough.
