This was my girlfriend's favourite Star Wars movie by far.

I dunno. I’m kind of looking forward to watching this for the second time. I didn’t hate it, from what I can recall. The first half or so though... yikes.

 

I did enjoy more when I watched it a second time. But I kind of viewed through the lens of a stand alone as opposed to a movie that is supposed to cap off a trilogy.

 

So I finally watched this last night and damn this whole film felt very messy and un Star Wars to me (The Mandalorian has been the most Star Wars, Star Wars has been in years in my opinion).

Palpatine and his fleet of Star Destroyers was such a dumb plot, heck him coming back and Rey being his grand daughter was dumb enough.

 

i watched this over the weekend and the i liked the same things i liked originally, and disliked all the same things i disliked originally. probably not an entry in this franchise I will return to that often, but, i still maintain it is better than any prequel.

 

With Palpatine being a clone and Rey being the offspring of a failed clone, wouldn’t that make Rey his daughter and not granddaughter?

they should just give up and release it straight to streaming on D+

so I can finally watch the miserable finale to the skywalker saga for the first and last time naked on my couch before my miserable life comes to an end

 

I won't be surprised if it's up in a week or two. Still gotta get some money before putting in on the streaming platform.

Yeah so I just watched this film yesterday. I checked out mentally after the opening crawl. What a monumentally stupid and terrible way to start the third part of a trilogy. Amateur.

everyone knows how bad the rest of the film is and the story isn’t worth mentioning. But it did have some good moments. I thought the part on the Death Star was good and the dogfight/ attack on the sith world was cool when completely separated from the story and reason they’re actually there in the first place.

but man, fuck this. I’m so sad and angry

 

This was pretty bad. It made going out and risking infection a plausible alternative.

Why was Rey training with the blaster helmet from A New Hope? It isn't some sort of officially sanctioned Jedi equipment. It was something Obi-Wan found on the ship and used to train Luke while others killed time playing space chess.

The idea is stupid but I still think that opening line sounds awesome

 

I realize most people in this thread were not fans of the movie, but the novelization was excellent. It clarified and added details for things that I’ve seen people want from the movie and it provides a lot of great added scenes, especially with Leia and Zorii. Being able to have the inner monologue of the characters, specifically Rey and Kylo, also provided some confirmation of things that I personally felt from the movie, but were not felt everyone. If anyone is still on the fence about the story or wants to see a different execution with Lenore character/theme focus and less action, I’d highly suggest giving it a try.
