The novel revealed that Palpatine in TROS was a clone. Another piece of info that should have been in the film

If they were going to do the clone thing, they should have had it like it was in the (now not canon) Dark Empire comics. I honestly though that was their angle when it was rumored that Matt Smith was in the movie. That turned out to not be the case though.

I’ll be honest, it’s cool information, but I don’t think it adds much to the movie knowing that. It’s technical information but as far as the characters, themes, and plot, I think the “abilities some consider to be unnatural“ line satisfies those pieces. I have a hard time thinking of anything that would be different in the eyes of Rey or Ben if they knew he was in a clone body because it’s still his spirit.

 

It makes me feel better knowing it’s a clone because it meant his physical body still died in ROTJ and now that ending isn’t completely ruined.

 

It’s not ruined for the 9 people who will read a novelization of this ass movie

 

I assumed the opposite. That TROS Sheev was the OG and ROTJ has been a Clone.

To be fair, the "Palpatine" face WAS the mask. His true face emerged during his battle with Windu; the "Emperor" face.

 

Fairly certain that is not explained anywhere in canon that way. Did I miss something?
