It doesn’t mean whatever they say about the thematic or structural story flaws to be true, either. It’s all an opinion. If you were to say my opinions are in the minority on this site, then yes, that’s true.

This is a very bad post.

    But is it wrong?

Opinions can be, and often are, wrong. Even about art.

  6. It means the thread wasn’t grasping at straws. They could be untrue, but their depth alone is the opposite of a straw. Your failure to ever argue against the large issues presented that you now mockingly call “small” also means they are unattested in this very thread. So, what you said about this thread grasping at straws was factually untrue no matter which way you wanna spin it.

Not unless you reject critical thinking. Then everyone is right.

  8. So by your own definition all of talking about the core theme of the movie and storytelling arcs, aren’t minimal moments. But the core of the discussion and movie. Thanks for proving me right by your own words. It’s nice when that happens.

They’re unattested because they’re so small it’s not worth discussing imo. As for grasping at straws that’s my opinion. You can keep telling me my opinion is wrong but it doesn’t mean I think it is. I appreciate your take on it, though

That’s not what I was implying at all. Now it seems you’re reaching to spin my words.

  11. It’s literally what you said.

  12. The theme of a movie and the central story arc of multiple characters is not small. :crylaugh:

I never said I was mentioning the theme and central story of the film in that post. When I talk about people reaching its about complaints on characters actions that have very little with the overall story or theme, which is why I consider it small.

  14. And I said we talked about way fucking more than that. Which we did. You ignored that for whatever reason in your fantasy world. Which is why you’ve been factually wrong from the start and why I said as such.

That’s because my reasoning for people reaching is with the small parts of the film but then you brought up themes and stories from links on this site.

  16. Correct, I showed you were wrong by showing the opposite of what said this thread was doing.

You said the entire thread was reaching.

I’ve absolutely talked about themes and central story arcs and major problems in the film.

What you said is false. Own it and move on. Yeesh.

What are you serious? My hyperbole for the entire thread? You have been taking that I meant every literal posted in this thread was reaching? When I clarified it was only the small complaints that I considered reaching?

Hyperbole. I obviously didn’t mean ever single post was reaching when I later clarified it was only the small complaints.

I’d ask for specifics, but I guess the nature of what you’re saying is that, because you don’t see ‘em as big issues, they probably don’t stick in your head. To which I’d say, when movies fail for people in major ways, the minor nitpicks tend to stick out more. If the foundation & spine is bad, the whole thing collapses, y’know?

Though, I’m also curious now if you have an argument for why the film’s central storytelling is good actually, or if you just don’t have any strong opinions about the story & happen to enjoy the spectacle, fan service, & laughs enough to not care.

Oh I don’t think the film’s storytelling is good. I think TLJ was written better in almost every way when it comes to story and themes. I just just enjoyed the fan service side of the film.

What kind of ridiculous world view believes you can only discuss major flaws about things? Or is it that they just don’t understand that small flaws can lead to those major flaws?

    how shallow.

I don’t think you can only view major flaws. I just take small gripes with little more than “oh, that’s interesting”
