Maybe not, but I wouldn’t say it’s a shameless cash grab either. If it’s not deep, I think it at least honors the Star Wars legacy. In fact, if RoS didn’t do much else for me it did deepen my appreciation for the series as a whole. Which I guess is a win.

  3. The Last Jedi more "necessary" in whatever way that word is used to describe giant franchise blockbuster movies.

I'll always be happy for this trilogy because TFA is great and I absolutely love TLJ, but this one does hurt my overall view of it because of how disconnected it feels from those two. With the way ROTJ ends, this trilogy was always going to feel a little like an epilogue (this isn't a bad thing), but I think it had interesting themes of how history repeats itself/cyclical violence and abuse and exploring those through the lens of Star Wars in a way that felt necessary and relevant. This movie had a great opportunity to cap off those themes and missed the mark.

I don't understand what this means. How many movies in general are necessary?

Honestly I can buy that the decision to reduce Rose's role was a Disney corporate decision and not necessarily JJ and Terrio's decision. It kind of makes no sense for the two of them to have the same kind of racially/misogynistically-motived hatred of her that nerds online have, I mean I'd like to give them both more credit as human beings than that. Also they could have retconned TLJ without writing her out of the movie entirely. Not saying it for sure wasn't there idea, just that of all the things that could have come from Disney higher-ups, that's the thing I'm most willing to believe actually did.

That said, I do think JJ resented Rian Johnson for "screwing up" his mysteries and pretty much all of the other decisions were either directly theirs or at least partially theirs.

Let Star Wars movies die. At least as giant blockbuster theater releases.

Just make TV series and movies on D+ now.

I’m talking about the story. The emperor was destroyed, Anakin was redeemed and balance was brought to the force in ROTJ. Then this trilogy just goes lol jk here are 3 more films for a legacy storyline

Also, despite a lifelong fandom of Star Wars, I've yet to understand how the Darkside being defeated/redeemed brings balance to the force. Maybe I just don't understand the word balance lol

Yeah, there's no way they stop making Star Wars movies as long as they have the IP. And even the amount of money they throw at their shows won't make it as equal visually as the movies. Like, I enjoy Mandolorian, but there is kind of a cheapness to the sets that reminds me that I'm watching a show.

Having finally metaphorically gotten off my lazy ass, i finally just googled it and..ahh.

  14. I can virtually guarantee that they will "remake" the original trilogy in some fashion, with new actors or with CGI Mark and Carrie, before I die.

I honestly don't think they'll ever do that. The OT feels like one of the few things that are untouchable.

If they remake the OT I will not be watching. That would be like remaking LOTR trilogy. Any attempt will be a failure

I think it's one thing to remake a single classic film, but a whole trilogy? If people are so upset about it that they don't turn up for the first one then you're kind of screwed.

Isn’t amazon remaking LOTR right now?

They’re making a tv show that is set 1,000 years before the events of the films.

    music and baseball.

they are making a series from a time period before Fellowship.

I mean, depending on the age of whoever they're allegedly casting for young Luke in the Obi-Wan show, they could already be halfway there to having their new cast, lol. In, like, a decade or so, you'll totally be able to make something set during the original trilogy w/ Alden, Donald, Force ghost Ewan, etc. Maybe even still have the voice of Anthony Daniels and/or Frank Oz (though, our timeline on James Earl Jones' Vader voice has gotta be relatively limited). Throw in a score that uses all of the old themes, & fans will honestly probably be pretty into it.

That being said, I feel like outright remaking the same story (unless into a new medium, like animation) is more improbable, just based on how obsessed w/ digitally recreating dead actors & lusting after the theatrical versions this franchise already is. A more likely scenario, imo, is a series that tells stories parallel to and/or in between those films, recreating certain moments here & there as appropriate. Something akin to what the Marvel comics do.

What's even more inevitable to me is a film set shortly after RotJ.

  22. I guarantee they will do this. It may be when I'm 80. But it will happen.

  23. I guarantee you this will happen again as well. It'll be public domain in 2044. (And there's already a whole bunch of adaptations.)

i hope any new movie's story come from a long time ago in another galaxy far, far away.
