I can't wait for the day, years from now, when Chris Terrio is either so comfortable with, or so removed from, the film industry that he's willing to just spill the tea or whatever on everything. Between this film & Justice League/the DCEU, he's gotta have so many fascinating stories about corporate oversight, creative disagreements, & last minute changes.

Granted, I still think the answer to "is he a lucky bad writer or an unlucky good writer" is probably a bit of both, based on the content of those recent interviews. But even so, he's gotta have some stories that'll be interesting after he no longer cares.

Heck, since he wants to get back to movies like Argo, maybe someone should just hire him to write a movie about someone trying to make a franchise film, based on thinly veiled reality, lol.

I was thinking the other day how JJ is probably gonna go full JK Rowling as far as throwing out unsolicited new details is concerned.

I had this same thought when I read that interview where they asked him if he would have liked to have this split into two movies and he was all “They had it pretty set in stone that this would be a trilogy but yeah I really would have liked that” and I was like yeah you would.

i feel like this era/trilogy and everything around it is going to need a 30 for 30 in like 20 years

Much like Snoke being a mangled mess, I’m guessing that while they’ve figured out how to bring life to lab manufactured bodies, they haven’t quite figured out how to perfect living tissue yet? Just making a guess hah

Probably something to do with a post recently on the subreddit r/saltierthancrait (I originally linked it here but it was so obnoxiously long) where someone detailed a story of having a source and Disney really overruling J.J. on p much everything.

this is very unsurprising if all true, but still a big yike all around

  12. My unnamed source says JJ, Et al just made a mediocre fan service heavy movie and no conspiracy theories are needed.

i'm inclined to believe some of it and i'm inclined to roll my eyes at "everything wrong with the film is disney's fault and not J.J's."

Like, I have no doubt some characters or things get tossed in to sell merch. I have no problem believing "umm this babu frick guy may go left" was a concern. I refuse to believe J.J. Abrams had never seen the final version of his film and was blindsided lol.

I'm willing to believe Disney may have overridden him on some stuff, but so many of the problems in this movie have been hallmarks of JJ's storytelling

No idea really. Never heard of that subreddit before I came across that post. I’m sure there’s half truths in the post that pretty much any one of us could guess. I’d say it’s most likely a fake ass post haha. Just context for why that is trending on twitter randomly

They fixed your brain when you were young.

Here's the thing.... his plan DID work. Initially he told Rey that he wanted her to kill him, so all the Sith would be inside of her... or something... then changed his mind.... because of the Dyad... or something... and in the end, she DID kill him. So... mission accomplished? I think? So confusing and non-sensical.

Also worth mentioning, Babu is literally just a non-yellow Minion. By far just as big a cash grab attempt as Porgs and Ewoks.

I mean, even in the event that those bullets are true, it's maybe a marginally better movie. One that's paced better with a few more interesting wrinkles here and there. But at the end of the day it sounds like the worst of decisions were probably still his (Palpatine returning, Rey Palpatine, fleet of death stars).

This. It's like, "oh people seem to like Babu, yea that one was all him and Disney hated it". Plus this whole notion that Disney wanted to sabotage episode IX so WB wouldn't want JJ for the DC movies is galaxy brain shit haha.

Yeah a lot of what’s bad about this was bad about TFA too, just less offensively so, so I don’t think it’s hard to believe a lot of this is on JJ

We reach for the longest shadow

I don't buy any of this. Pretty cowardly of JJ to not own his movie, and trying to place blame on others for the pushback.

Even though I liked the films in the trilogy, the more I think about it the more I realize this trilogy wasn’t really necessary.
