Yeah, that's kind of that I was feeling. like, it's all made-up nonsense, but it's easier for me to digest that Yoda manipulated ions to make lightning or that Force Ghosts can still tap into the force to lift stuff more than actually holding them, but I guess you could say Luke it just force-hovering it where his hand would be? Just took me out of the moment way more than the previous times did.

 

The lightning thing has always been one of the most sensible uses of the force to me tbh

Just to be clear I have no problems with force lightning. I was just pointing out that Yoda did that. I also have no problems with Luke catching the saber. It’s a movie to me. I know that’s not the best defense but whatever

 

I was caught off guard by the lightsaber catch, but it seems pretty consistent with what we've seen before (Obi-Wan sitting on a log, Yoda bopping Luke with his cane).

The only reason I remembered was because of that bad lip reading video. Hey he did say that the force runs through rocks and trees so why can’t his wooden cane become a force ghost?

 

no longer has a physical spine, still needs back support. star wars afterlife is bullshit.

 

You know what matters a lot more to me than knowing the exact rules of Force ghosts?

Good storytelling.

In the spirit of saying nice things about this, I laughed so hard at Poe and Finn’s “General.” “General.” exchange. May have been the only moment of joy I got from the entire film

 

One guy asked me "Did Rian Johnson's mom make that sweater?" and another said it was awesome. That's all I got today.

People who know the star wars lore better than I do:

Is Anakin's father ever actually revealed? I remember reading some speculation way back when that the Emperor is Anakin's father. Is that totally busted? Still plausible? Likely confirmed? To me the whole "Rey is his granddaughter" shit makes it seem more likely.

 

There’s a comic (Darth Vader #25) that seems to hint at it (doing midochlorian stuff) but the authors said on Twitter it wasn’t meant to be taken that way later on, so there’s not actually a canon yes to that.

The basic gist story of the theory is that Palpy was helping his master Darth Plagueis in his experiments with manipulating the Force to influence life/cheat death and when they did one they accidentally created life in Anakin.

This theory is given more credence by Episode I when Qui-Gon asked Shmi who the father was and she replied "there was no father"
