its more than a little wild to me when I see people that say they can tell when decisions made in these movies were because of one specific person. especially in the case of Solo for all the extra reasons.

the droid being the operating system of the falcon or whatever is the worst kind of baffling canon fuckery stuff weve come to expect since the prequels

Definitely going to give the original trilogy and the prequels another shot next year, since I haven't properly seen any of those six for several years now and feel I am in a better position to judge them than when I first saw them.

can you explain this? Not sure I know what you’re referring to but you’re the second person that’s mentioned the droid operating system in 2 days and now I’m curious

It was weird how they made a female character so expendable but it was a droid so uhhh yet it was a droid who wanted droid liberation and uhhh I.

I saw this yesterday, stayed out of the thread for the last week, and avoided spoilers. Read through the thread today.

I was so, so disappointed in this. There’s not much I can add at this point. Agree completely that we don’t deserve The Last Jedi. What even was this? Just an absolute mess. I kept wondering what Abrams had initially planned for Snoke in a hypothetical sequel he might have made, if he even had a semblance of a plan, while watching this. Was Rey going to be Snoke’s granddaughter before he was killed off? Was Snoke going to reveal he’d been the one pulling the strings all along in an attempt to bring back the emperor and the sith or some stupid shit like that? Is that why Palpatine is so shoehorned in here? Was there EVER a plan for anything at all? I saw the comments about the ending possibly having been changed which led me to this (admittedly not the greatest source but still) and just...what happened here? What the hell happened.

This is one of the story beats I wanted most, especially after The Last Jedi. Cannot believe they didn’t follow through on what could have been a fantastic story that, yes, really does write itself and seemed like it was being set up from the beginning.

    “There has been an awakening.”

Like. Kind of thought it was going to ultimately be a great awakening on a mass scale.

Watched this again on my phone and didn't *hate* it this time. I'll correct myself and say it's still way better than the prequels

They got like halfway there on accident, too. Just give Jannah more of a role, replace Hux as the spy w/ someone connected to her, & then have the turning tide in the final battle be some of the Troopers switching sides.

Probably isn't fair to compare these two in particular, but yikes.

I’m sure there are exceptions but isn’t it nearly universal that the second and third movies in a huge trilogy make substantially less than the first? Regardless of quality?

Raimi’s Spider-Man 2 performed the best out of that trilogy. I think the Lord of the Rings sequels and the Dark Knight outperformed their first installments too.

I want to pull up those numbers for comparison, but Amazon put it all behind a paywall because of course they did.

Spider-man 2 wasn’t the best of that trilogy. Domestically it was Spider-Man 1, worldwide it was Spider-Man 3.
