Somehow seeing this for a 3rd time today, counting it as one last xmas present for my brother.

I've seen it twice and I definitely want to catch it one more time before it leaves theaters.

I watched it a second time and the highs were higher while the lows were lower. I’m not sure what I’ll think it of years from now.

I don't know, I saw it again and loved it 100% more than I did before. Sorry everyone else hates it so much still.

Caught it on Christmas Eve and honestly it was a chore. Nothing is earned, things just happen. Such a weird thing to see such a well-made movie be just so utterly hollow.

My Twitter is started to be people going, “of course TROS has issues and you can nitpick them all, you can nitpick all the Star Wars movies”

like, yes, you can nitpick all of them. But this one has flaws that are deeper than that.

I can’t see how anyone could find these flaws to be that bad

That’s probably because, when it comes to movies like this, you don’t actually care that much about storytelling.

Which is fine, if true. Like, that’s your prerogative. Though, it would’ve been really nice if they could’ve made a movie w/ a good story while still having the surface level spectacle certain people crave from Star Wars; that’s not that big an ask from a tent pole film in 2019.

I hope one day to be this passive aggressively condescending. Please don't get hurt falling off your high horse.

I mean, I’ve had this dynamic w/ this user long enough that, in the AbsolutePunk days, I’d sometimes call him “oakworst,” lol. *shrug* We’ve had good interactions & even occasionally agreed on something, believe it or not. And, his initial praise of this film after seeing it was to praise its fan service?

So, yeah, I don’t think my post would feel as ridiculous if you knew context. *shrug*

It's such a weird choice to have Ben throw away his lightsaber as a way to symbolize his turn back to the light, only for him to later need it in order to defeat the Knights of Ren. For one, it makes no sense on a subtext level and for two, it would have been so much cooler to have him take them out without a lightsaber and show that he doesn't need it

But seeing him use a blue lightsaber was really cool.

That seems to be the reasoning behind most of the decisions in this movie

Sorry about that. At face value the statement seemed really harsh and there's enough of people being judged for their tastes on Twitter that I see all the time and I really thought this was a safe space. Thanks for clearing that up.

and once you come to grips with that, it really is a fun movie. My second viewing I was thinking about the criticisms, and it struck me as Rey was burying the lightsabers, that yeah, this doesn't really make a ton of sense for her, Luke, or Leia, but for me as a viewer, I love that the saga ended where it started. It had a feeling of finality. I just let myself enjoy it, and yeah, I thought, this does look really cool.

I'm glad people enjoy this movie, but its baffling for me to hear people say it's fun. Movies are weird.
