In these trying times of shameless mediocre data driven consumerism and pilloried nostalgia, “it’s good because it’s awful” is an invaluable creative tool.

It’s rough out there, but i don’t make the rules

I honest to god have no recollection of this even happening in the movie (Poe getting shot). The insane pace combined with so many baffling decisions has me so confused on the order of events and smaller details that even took place. If someone asked me to lay out the plot for them and major events I would really have a tough time.

His arm is in some type of sling during the end celebration. That’s it.

It was after they freed Chewie and right before they all got captured.

Oh i’m sure, our friend Nathan seems to be a fine enthusiast of good movies and good thinkin’. Nevertheless, it’s always worth revisiting, especially given where his mind seems to be at.

When Lando was talking to that woman at the end and she said she had no family or whatever I thought he was about to call her a solo or something to that effect.

Ahhh okay. Honestly I want to see this again just because I could not focus on the actual story past the baffling decisions. I think the pacing was designed to have the audience move past asking how palpatine was back, but for me it had the exact opposite effect. I kept thinking wait what are we trying to find here? Can we go back to how this guy didn’t blow up into a million pieces?

not referring to this movie, but to this comment:

“Watching a movie over and over again looking for ways to like it when you know it’s bad seems like a problematic way to try to consume art.”

Just got back from seeing it a 2nd time and I enjoyed just as much as the first time. It’s just so much fun and the fan service is exactly what I wanted out of the last chapter of the Skywalker saga.

People who watch camp aren’t trying to convince themselves they like a bad movie, they know they like the movie for mostly different reasons than might have been intended

I guess what i mean is, it’s best not to be prescriptive about other people’s habits and choices. I certainly would caution against characterizing such habits with adjectives like “problematic”.

Sorry if I communicated any offense!

Someone told me today they were glad it showed leia training because that explains the "weird floating scene" in TLJ since she shouldn't be able to do that. Baby yoda can keep people from dying but..... whatever. Fuck star wars lol

i don’t mean that tho. I just mean to reiterate that there is an aesthetic phenomenology available to us with which we can integrate certain media into our understanding of the world around us.

Ain’t tryna say the rise of skywalker doesn’t suck, just sayin the suck factor isnt always a disqualifying feature.

This is a pointless nitpick but I was honestly bummed when they revealed Leia's lightsaber and it was just blue. Playing too much Fallen Order and I wanted a non-traditional color. Rey's saber was tight. Loved that spinning switch to power it on.

I tried watching the 3 Hobbit movies over and over and over again desperately trying to salvage some sense of enjoyment out of them and it only served to make me more and more frustrated with how much of a giant waste of time and huge missed opportunity they all are each and every time I watched them and ultimately now I just forget they even existed.
