3-PO in the cloak on that dark planet was a great bit

When they do "hands in" and 3PO scuttles really quickly to get in there.

    Love it.

ya i didnt mean that its been heated, just that the negative criticisms are well documented, most of which i agree with.

I like campy things a lot and while it’s proooooobably/most definitely not intentional here, I can see this movie settling in as a beloved camp classic in my life.

guess what, I usually don't go out of my way to see movies I'm not going to like, so the amount of truly bad movies (i.e. I didn't like) I've seen is shockingly low.
I mean of course there'll be some recency bias but yeah this movie blows harder than almost any movie I've ever seen.

I think this is the worst movie I’ve seen this year. Joker and Far From Home round out my bottom 3.

As much as I would've liked Rian to finish things out, I'm so happy we got Knives Out instead. I'll keep echoing that sentiment. Please give that man more money to make original stories!

  12. Haha I promise not to argue but I would love to hear your thoughts on the comparison. You usually have a great point of view that I hadn’t thought of.

Not really digging the vibe of hating on people trying to learn how to enjoy this movie more. I'm going to go see it again with that hope. I had to do that with TLJ to appreciate it the way I do now.

Does Merry the Hobbit say more words in this film than Carrie Fisher's daughter?

His name is Charlie. He didn’t score a number one hit with “You All Everybody” to be disrespected like this.

I think he has more lines than Rose even. It’s gotta be close.

How does dark science work? Is it like evil chemistry?

I think it's a good thing that people will watch this movie while trying to learn how to enjoy it more, while at the same time I think it is a bad thing that they made a movie that is bad enough that a lot of people have to consciously and actively do this instead of just enjoying the movie because it is good.

Currently drafting up the discussion topics for my roundtable episode on this. If anyone has suggestions, let me know! Going to keep the episode around 1 1/2 - 2 hours. Preferably closer to the former for the sake of my sanity during editing.

Watching a movie over and over again looking for ways to like it when you know it’s bad seems like a problematic way to try to consume art. Acknowledge something’s shortcomings, that the enjoyment you do get is maybe coming from a shallow place or that you know it’s bad but there are enough moments that tap into something in you or that you just love the surface level fun of watching characters you like exist in a world you like. Nothing wrong with that, but why try to construct meaning or quality where there isn’t any?

This honestly might be a reason I don't rewatch a lot of these types of movies. Sure I had fun initially watching them, but no underlying meaning really brings me back to most of them. Thank you for kind of opening that perspective up for me.

After watching this I felt like I needed a nap after 20 minutes of trailers and a 2 and a half hour movie, I can't imagine handling that twice in 3 days
