I’ll say it again that it would have worked better if the rogue troopers were the moles so we could spend more time with them from the top and Hux can just exist in the background because who cares?

Also the rey parentage thing is insulting. Complete bullshit and added nothing to her character. Fuck that.

I kind of hated this. Just got out of the theater, but i’m kind of speechless.

I thought I would enjoy something in this movie, but I can't think of much. This was so boring, none of it makes sense. So lazy and FUUUUUUUCK what they did to rose. Never even saw the same sex couple they were so proud of. Fuck this movie

I enjoyed parts of it but it was pretty disappointing overall. I didn't like how they brought back Palpatine or that Rey was his granddaughter at all. Should have stuck with Rian Johnson.

Also like two different groups of people in the theater kept talking throughout it was so annoying.

Well, I’m going to need to sit on this one. At the moment, I’ll just say this one wasn’t for me.

I did really like Rey flipping over the wave and then Kylo just casually walking through. Dude looked determined.

  13. I wanna say, anyone else had hopes the "children being abducted to become Stormtroopers" thing would become a secondary plot line? I expected Finn to go on a mission to free them or something at some point during the trilogy. Feels like a missed opportunity.

Their handling of that was weird the entire trilogy. It's mentioned in FA and then completely forgotten as he joyously murders his former fellow child soldiers. Just kind of awkward, really.

I'd give it a C, mostly because I am a sucker for things with Star Wars in the title.

I liked a few things: Rey's character for most of the film, Poe/Finn's interactions (I wanted them together lol), Poe hitting on Zorri but backing off once it was clear she wasn't interested, Adam Driver just doing anything in the film--just have him on screen and the movie was usually suddenly improved. Some of the lightsaber fights were kind of fun

    didn't like:
-Palpatine and anything involving him. it was dumb and bad and omg I got so fucking annoyed (tho the design of the planet was pretty cool)
    -Rey being a Palpatine
-The constant jacking off of the fans with all the over your head nods.
-how it basically felt like ROTJ, but worse
-their willingness to sacrifice C3PO at the drop of a hat but like being loving toward droids otherwise, like WTF
-Kylo Ren just like becoming good in like a fucking second. I get he's been struggling with himself for all 3 movies, but fuck the turning point was just "boom, ok good now" no real struggle after
-how worthless the Knights of Ren were, they looked kind of cool but they literally did nothing so we never knew if they were really menacing or just hopped up stormtroopers
-Rose got done straight dirty, fuck that shit
-How they brought up the child soldiers bit around stormtroopers again and then did fuck all with it other than making Lando look creepy af at the end with his talking with the soldier Finn met
-Anytime they cut to the team standing at Rebel HQ, like seeing JJ's fuckbuddy and the Hobbit pulled me out of immersion so fast, they were bad and so annoying, glad the fuckbuddy died
-Finn suddenly being force sensitive or some shit and that not being explored AT ALL

My audience clapped at the title screen and then at the end of the movie left in dead fucking silence.

As an aside, cinema culture in the US always interests me. Things like applauding when a movie starts. I've never encountered anything like that in the UK. I think we're all too polite and would hate to be the one that starts it haha.

I don't see it too often, mostly just for massively hyped stuff, like the main SW films and like Avengers Endgame.

Genuinely curious why people hated Rey being a Palpatine so much. Don’t get me wrong, I didn’t like the use of Palpatine himself in the film, but I felt her being one was the only thing they actually knew going into the trilogy. Not that i saw it coming, because I didn’t, but felt it made sense once it was revealed based on her entire journey of not really knowing who she is, and why she’s been able to learn so much in such a short amount of time. It just added that layer to me that I think she really needed

I think Emily VanDerWerff’s piece on this really sums up my thoughts pretty well

The crushing disappointment of Rey’s parentage

The force doesn’t care what your bloodline is. How strong you are in the force doesn’t really have anything to do with blood. Can a family be strong with it? Sure! But does it guarantee? No. Clearly Palpatine’s son didn’t have it at all.

She did not need that “layer”. It added absolutely nothing.

I can't believe they went with this script. Feels like they allowed the most toxic fanbase in the world decide how this trilogy should end.
