I bought tickets for my family to see this tonight while I was home for Christmas...got to the theater and found out I had accidentally bought the tickets for next weekend. OOPS lol. No star war for me.

Turned to my mom and said he had become Bill Pullman, then my dad immediately nudged me to lean over the other way and he said, “This is just Independence Day...” I couldn’t believe this should have been such an important moment and all three of us were just struck by how much of a bad ripoff it was. And certainly not from the Bill Pullman movie I would have expected.

I was thinking this today, except somewhat more literally: I’d love to draw some mini comics telling the story as I would’ve told it. I’m way too rusty & unformed an artist in my adult life to do it well, but I still really wanna just do it, however rough it’d turn out, lol.

That would be a really neat idea!

I’d like to draft up potential storylines and character arcs as a broad map first, based off of where they left off, rather than try to add new elements. I might do it and then share at a later time, since it would be a fun exercise. You should do your idea as well

hard to find in our adult lives now though

Why not? She did it earlier in the movie, she knew it was a possibility.

Absolutely nothing in Daisy’s performance points to this being a planned thing at all in any way. Her reaction make zero sense if that was a plan.

Going down the comments of the tweet, apparently the people are Vader cultists and the ruins of his castle were intended to be seen but didn’t make it in. As well, apparently in Vader Immortal about the planet healing in some way.

I don’t think I even care enough to read a bunch of thorough thinkpieces. Like I enjoy talking about it here since things have been relatively drama free, but I’m not even passionately angry, just numb and over it.

Yea, I wish I was angry at it so I felt something. I left TFA elated, it was such a fun movie and brought it all back. TLJ destroyed me in the best way. It spoke to the deep truths of the saga and made me cry at like 6 different viewings. Here... I have issues, but I wasn’t angry in the theater. I just walked out like, “I guess that was it.”

I’m the opposite with how I felt. I left TFA excited for the future films and went Star Wars crazy like I was when I saw the prequels in theaters as a kid. Then I saw TLJ and I didn’t like it nearly as much as TFA and was indifferent to it and kind of lost interest of Star Wars things. Then I saw this last night and it brought back my Star Wars addiction.

What was so inspiring for you?

that may sound confrontational, but I’m just curious. I have posted a lot of thoughts and I am hoping someone can add some context or a different point of view to help me appreciate this more.

Tbh I think it’s that this film felt more like the prequels energy but with sequel characters which I liked in a way, even though the prequels are not that great compared to the other films. I also thought the film was really fun, especially when Rey, Finn and Poe were all together. Followed by Bendemption and all the fan service.

Anyone seeing takes about people hating on The Last Jedi but loving this? Because I can already hear the rationalizations in my head and it makes my brain hurt

My big initial thought (forget if I posted it here) was basically this verbatim, but in a negative light, lol. At least y’all w/ your different awful tastes are sometimes consistent.

as someone who hated TLJ, this is also a hot ass mess, but it at least was fun to watch if you turned your brain off. and I really like Rian, if often think his works are overhyped.
