J.J. has nothing to worry about. He runs Bad Robot, is extremely wealthy and can finally move on to hopefully something original for the first time in a decade.

 

That'd be weird, since all those people were the same ones declaring they needed him to "save" Star Wars just a few years ago. (I've never thought he's a wonderful director though.)

 

JJ and Rian are gonna be justtt fine

Rian Johnson just made a great movie that made like $80 million and is being nominated for a bunch of awards. JJ's place is even more secure (especially since he's a better producer than he is a director).

 

I'll be more mad about him if he screws this up than anything he's ever directed.

To bring you up to speed, The Leftovers has officially absolved Lindelof of any such label.

 

And ‘Watchman’ was just one of, if not the, best show of the year.

 

Nobody besmirched the name Lindelof harder than I, yet between The Leftovers and now Watchmen I have thoroughly, thoroughly eaten my words.

I’m afraid he will, at least for fans of the original film (me) due to how drastic of a change his version apparently is but I’m with you in that I would love for it be great. There’s only so far you can drift away from the source material when it comes to stuff like Your Name (and the soundtrack which is arguably one of the best things about the film). But what’s new in the world of live action adaptations of Japanese animated film/series?

 

tbh any movie Lindelof has ever touched has been meh, to be generous. but the leftovers and watchmen are better than anything JJ has touched in any medium soooo

 

Way late to this, but a Star Wars film written and directed by Bong joon Ho would be a literal dream come true.

 

Need to finally watch The Leftovers, I’ve heard nothing but incredible praise for that show

Lindelof just finished helming the years finest TV show

 

it's notable to me that the things Lindelof has seen success with lately involve an existing property that was at some point completed in another form

 

in case it hasnt been posted yet, the sound track is now up on streaming services

 

For me, personally, I don't feel he had a large amount of creative control on the project I held against him the most, which was Prometheus. I think he was just an easy punching bag when in fact my problems were more with Ridley Scott at the end of the day. I only watched a little bit of Lost and I've never seen Tomorrowland.
