Wow these reviews are kinda depressing, I hope I end up liking it but yea...kinda bummed

 

Yeah, I was expecting a more negative reception overall based on the reactions I saw but... I’ll admit that Tomatometer score is pretty shocking right now.

 

3 hours to go for me. I'm so excited. Despite the mixed reactions and early reviews, I'm sure I'll love this and cry my eyes out. I'll be back with a first impression straight after, spoiler-free of course. Also note I am a loving fan of this series, so I'll try and be as unbiased as possible.

 

Some spoilery questions that I don't want EXACT answers to, but just a yes or no...


Do they explain Snoke's origins?
Are there a lot of major character deaths?
Is Palpatine's reason for being alive dumb?

Yeah, these reviews hurt. Hopefully they plan their next (series of) films more thoroughly.

Even TLJ had high scores from critics despite the fan vitriol

 

Honestly, I’m glad I’m seeing this with my 11 year old brother. He’ll likely have a fun time regardless. And I’ll enjoy it more (at least the first time) if he’s enjoying it.

 

hmm that ending is the exact kind of cornball shit that made me bummed out when JJ came back

literally every movie Rian has touched is better than the best JJ movie. it’s tough to even tell what JJ’s best is. it might honestly be TFA. dude is a hack as a director and should have stayed behind the scenes.

 

All that recent press about him learning the right lessons from TFA and going in a bolder direction... let me put my clown hat on.

I mean there has to be some redeeming qualities of this film? I can’t imagine I won’t somewhat enjoy myself, and come out pleased.
