What I'm seeing a lot of on Twitter is:

"Loved it! Was an epic and satisfying conclusion!" to which the replies are "How much is Disney paying you?" and "You liked TLJ so I don't trust a word."

"Disappointed. Convoluted and souless, not a great Star Wars film." to which the replies are "I knew it." and "Yep. Knew it all along. Disney have failed once again."

Confirmation bias is a dangerous thing, so I tend to avoid it altogether based on the feeling I got when I saw The Force Awakens exactly 4 years ago. Pure happiness and love. Can't wait for tonight. 14 hours to go.

There's so many voices. The question is more like what voice doesn't she hear?

    @Zilla

What’s Rose’s role in this, & does her theme play at any point? And on that note, any “Duel of the Fates”?

She helps out on the ground with the rest of the Resistance. I honestly don't remember her theme or if it plays because there's just so much going on in that first hour that I found it tough to keep up with. Don't remember if "Duel" played either.

    Alright, one more question...

Do they actually specifically say that Rey is Palpatine’s “granddaughter”? Like, is she of the lineage or whatever of Palpatine, or is he specifically her grandpa?

  14. From everything I've seen confirmed -- yes. Super stupid move for all the reasons I've laid out before, but this is I guess the least? worst way of doing it?

Man really bummed about the reviews, but I’m still excited to see how the trilogy wraps up on the big screen.

also I made the mistake of reading that spoiler above, and now I’m like what?

What a weird choice, given how old he already was during the prequels. I don’t need to hear them say “great great grandfather” or whatever, but just leaving it at “the line of Palpatine” would’ve made a lot more sense.

Still, that's honestly not the most frustrating thing about this film's leaked plot to me. Her being a Palpatine resets a frustrating precident & is awful if they can't find a way to make the point Rian was making w/ different characters in other films. But at the same time, making her part of the villain's bloodline (& not a sympathetic villain like what Anakin became), & then having her take on the Skywalker name at the end, still makes her story the adoption story that I care so much about. As an adopted person from a family of adopted people, that's really important to me. Leaving that thread where Rian left it still would have been significantly better, but that's not awful.

My frustrations come from other elements, lol.

Trilogy finales are hard to land, just the nature of building hype for this long. I'm not huge on ROTJ and it was a pretty fucking solid movie, just give me something as good as TDKR and I'll be happy. These three movies will still feel special to me if so, so glad we got these.

Also I'm not reading those spoiler tags so you could all be describing a complete fucking train wreck and I'll sound like an idiot in a few days lol

Shit, just realizing “the art of” book is delayed til March. Bummer. Loved looking at those right after seeing the movie for the last two. I guess it’s for spoiler reasons though, as they saved some TFA spoilers for the TLJ book, i assume some TLJ spoilers will be in this book, and there is no next book so they’re just waiting to include it all.

I’m pretty much in the same boat. I don’t see a way I could dislike these as much as TPM and AOTC, and I’m not expecting the greatest movie of all time. I just want to enjoy my time and see where the story goes. I like that you likened it to TDKR. That was super satisfying in the theater and I still enjoy it as part of that trilogy. Would be happy if this was the same way.

What’s the other film he’s referring to? Also he doesn’t sound like a SW fan...
