Luke showing up, out of nowhere, completely out of the blue, to steal the moment and fight kylo instead of rey would have been the worst thing about that movie lol c'mon now

I’ve muted enough garbage and only follow select people and have avoided most of that.

This has been the only downside to the show. Lots of "fans" using it as ammunition against other Star Wars. And you're right, none of them seem to acknowledge Kathleen's hand in this show. They just treat it like Dave and Jon are our saviors and it really puts a bad taste in my mouth. That said, I've really gotten used to ignoring people like this, just sucks that they can't enjoy the show and not talk shit.

RE: Luke grabbing the saber instead of Rey in TFA. That would kill Rey's arc too. Her grabbing the saber (and then realizing she can use the force) completes her initial journey after rejecting the saber early on. If Luke shows up, she probably just goes back to Jakku.

John Boyega will be on GMA tomorrow. Excited to get the press run going for this movie, looking forward to seeing lots of interviews with the cast in the coming weeks.

It would change everything. No thanks! I really enjoyed Luke in TLJ. If he has been some badass Jedi master it would change all that.

Honestly, the only thing I would change in TFA is Starkiller base. I think the story could have been easily reworked so that it wasn't a superweapon and was instead just a large First Order base where the other half of the map to Luke was kept. The superweapon aspect is lazy, but it also changes the focus of the story suddenly. I always kind of forget that the main plot driver for the first 2/3 of the movie is finding Luke once Hosnian Prime explodes.

even if TFA retreads it still may be the most minute to minute fun of the new films. it flies by when I throw it on.

Cool. Hence why I said "I know it shouldn't" at the start of my comment. Maybe just keep that thought to yourself next time.

this is one of the reasons i like it so much. TLJ gets hung up it feels like at times, but TFA is maybe the fastest 2 hours and 15 minutes ive ever sat through.

the only “wrong” thing about TFA is a more macro/“star wars karaoke” argument, which i kind of agree with. the actual elements of the movie are pretty great. nothing as bad as superman leia or the casino stuff, but nothing as good as the kylo/rey stuff and luke stuff

Counterpoint: Both Leia’s Force survival scene & all of Canto Bight are both genuinely good actually, & multiple creative decisions in TFA are worse.

  20. I have no issue with leias space scene other than it looked bad. The idea is fine. Canto bight is whatever at this point. The first time I watched it, it dragged on forever. But it's really not that long and on later viewings I was neutral in it. Starkiller base just seems lazy but again not that big of a deal.

I’ll never forget when reviews came out for TLJ and dolts said the Canto Bight stuff was like half the movie or some nonsense.

I’m not dwelling on it, no need to be sad. I just find that rhetoric pretty fucking annoying, and I find your post here the same.

It’s all good, I don’t lose sleep over it and am personally enjoying all the Star Wars we’re getting.

Just rewatched the Leia in space sequence a couple times via YouTube. From my first theatrical viewing through now, I've literally never had any problem w/ that sequence whatsoever, or understood others' issue. And, there are things I love in TLJ that I do understand how people wouldn't feel it. And yet, this is one of the things where even most fans of the film seem to not like how it happened. It feels like I'm in some bizarro emperor's new clothes scenario any time it comes up, lol.
