Yeah I'm stoked for this. I trust J.J with bringing us enough new that it's exciting and unexpected, but also with enough tone and old-school appreciation to make it feel like Star Wars.

What a lot of the whining fanboys don't understand is that whoever directs / writes Star Wars movies / shows now can never win. If Episode 7 came out and was all new, with new planets, new ships, new characters, etc. it would've been "too different! This isn't Star Wars!!!" It came out as it is, with all the amazing fan service we loved, and people still bitched that it was re-hashing A New Hope.

Johnson tries something all new with Ep 8 and still gets hatred to this day.

It's fucked. I love Star Wars, but it can't win. J.J will bring it though, dude knows what he's doing.

That quote about Rian is seriously exactly what I was hoping/predicting would happen. Seeing people like Rian be creative and play with this universe in ways nobody has inspires others to be creative and to take bolder chances and mixing the old and new rather than being constricted and bound by the rules.

(Which appropriately was a huge lesson in The Last Jedi itself btw)

A balance will be nice like Abrams said. A little familiarity with new ground that isn’t over stepping out of Star Wars territory.

  9. Completely unrelated to this movie, but I loved this live-action trailer for the Fallen Order game.

Started my film rewatch last night.

Going linear instead of order of release.

    I
    II
    III
    Solo
    Rogue One
    IV
    V
    VI
    VII
    VIII

It'll time well so I watch Last Jedi the night before I go to TROS.

I’m watching Rebels again at the moment. Closer to ep 9 I will watch all the movies in chronological order.

I did this as soon as Disney+ came out with the exception The Last Jedi (that's tonight) and Solo. I skipped Solo. I have seen it twice and I'm good there.

  18. Just listened to the binge mode on solo and their excitement makes me want to watch it again but I hated it and thought it was trash when I saw it.

I've said it before but Solo is the best Indiana Jones movie since Last Crusade and if Spielberg is so intent on making more Indy movies they should just let him direct the 2 Solo sequels.

I do want a sequel to Solo to explore Qira, Maul, and crimson dawn, but I do really love the idea of Alden's Han and Chewy going on treasure hunting adventures in the Star Wars galaxy so much. Great idea.

I’ve been resistant to the idea of a rewatch in the lead up, but I’ve been feeling it recently. Think I’m gonna do this:

    Rogue One
    New Hope
    Empire
    Clone Wars (original miniseries)
    Return
    Force Awakens
    Last Jedi

Idk why Kathleen Kennedy and Co didn’t just let Lord and Miller make a buddy cop film in space. Would have been perfect for Solo.

How the fuck can I block out the noise of shitty Star Wars fans? I know it's very easy to just not read their comments and ignore them but their shitty views seem overwhelming at times.
