Dammit sorry. It’s all good either way, was interesting to hear other takes on it.

also did not know this was a topic that has come up before! My apologies

  3. No worries. I'll gladly thrown down in a spoiler argument thread.

I just wear one of my SW t-shirts. I’m lame when it comes to costumes.

opening night for TFA was huge at my theater, lots of people dressed up, but the theater was super strict about blasters and lightsabers in the theater so there were lots of lightsaber battles happening out in the parking lot lol

opening night for TLJ saw barely any costumes, and i usually wear a SW tshirt to mark the occasion.

It's so frustrating for me to see how excellent both the first teaser & this final trailer were... but also not be able to shake my concerns over how Abrams & Terrio will handle Rey.

Like, the best creative decision in a Star Wars film in the 21st century, as far as I'm concerned, is making Rey's parents nobodies w/out any noteworthy bloodline connections. And, while I don't put much stock in Reddit rumors, etc., I can't stop dreading where that'll land when this is all said & done.

Black suit green saber is without a doubt the best luke.

It’s up there, but I prefer his Bespin outfit with the blue saber.

I'm a little torn. If I remember correctly the Bespin outfit is basically a cargo shorts suit.
The black suit and homemade green saber always appealed to me. Luke going his own way

I like his Jedi Lebowski look in TLJ. He's basically just wearing Jedi pjs all day everyday.

It’s a basic look, don’t get me wrong. But it just works for me.

I dunno, I feel like the black with brown robe is comfy, too.

funny note, for YEARS, I thought the robe he wore into Jabba’s palace was black.

I think I was into the action figure with the 'glove.' Also the green saber.
Speaking of action figure versions- the original head on the black suit Luke was so small

Terrio feels like the biggest wild card to me. I've seen so many varying things on how much he contributed to BvS and JL, putting most of the blame on Synder. Of course, I've also seen people try to say Affleck contributed stuff to the Argo script uncredited. Who knows.

Rewatched The Last Jedi for the first time since theaters. Probably run through everything again before the movie.

Yep, if it wasn't for Terrio I would be feeling wayyy more confident about this movie. But he seemed like such an odd choice from the beginning. Not sure how these things work--was he JJ's pick or was he Kennedy's pick to help write the movie?

From all the interviews leading up to this, it sounds like it was JJ's choice.

Was going to post this in a comments thread for the final trailer, but it's probably better shared here. Found myself finishing up work early today, felt like expanding on some opinions I started seeing shared about The Last Jedi…

As a film itself (separated from Star Wars) I find TLJ… fine. In comparison to Rian Johnson's films "Brick" and "Looper", it's the weakest for me. If I had to attach a reason, I guess I was personally hoping for some grit similar to Looper showing up in LTJ (as close as you could get without the R-rating of course.) These are things Rogue One handled superbly. When it was announced that Rian was doing Episode 8 and Trevorrow was attached to Episode 9, I openly wished Disney had instead given both EP8 and EP9 to Rian. Jurassic World was fun, but I would've liked to see him handle 1-2 other big films before taking on something like Star Wars. Ultimately, I'm happy JJ is finishing up this trilogy.

Obviously my opinion doesn't matter at all, but in the spirit of discussion amongst fans, this is how I'd rank the Skywalker Saga films so far (and I've never even thought about this until now.) Curious to hear how everyone else ranks them. I should probably start a list on Letterboxd…

    Skywalker Saga ranked
    1. V: Empire Strikes Back
    2. IV: A New Hope
    3. VI: Return of the Jedi
    4. VII: The Force Awakens
    5. VIII: The Last Jedi
    6. III: Revenge of the Sith
    7. II: Attack of the Clones
    8. I: Phantom Menace
    All Star Wars films ranked
    1. V: Empire Strikes Back
    2. IV: A New Hope
    3. VI: Return of the Jedi
    4. Rogue One: A Star Wars Story
    5. VII: The Force Awakens
    6. Solo: A Star Wars Story
    7. VIII: The Last Jedi
    8. III: Revenge of the Sith
    9. II: Attack of the Clones
    10. I: Phantom Menace

I would imagine how you rank them could also be influenced by your age and what you remember of the originals and prequels, etc. I'm sure that Solo being ranked above TLJ will irk some folks, but I genuinely enjoyed that film more. Not nearly to the extent of Rogue One, but just a smidge more than TLJ. Likely due to nostalgia for the old characters, specifically Donald Glover's work with Lando. On the whole, TLJ felt more like an epilogue/bookend to Force Awakens, and less like a chapter that stood on its own. Hilariously, the stuff I like (or dislike) is usually the polar opposite of whoever I'm talking to about it.

    TLJ Likes:

    • Rey's parentage not being important whatsoever. She's not necessarily linked to the Skywalker lineage, which is nice. I'm not sure I *believe* Kylo Ren, but I also like reveals that fly in the face of folks' expectations sometimes. Similarly, the kid using the force at the end of the film to drive this home. There's other force-sensitive people in the galaxy.
    • Rose (and the scene at the beginning with her sister making the sacrifice play.)
    • Luke being a grumpy hermit who has given up on the Jedi.
    TLJ Dislikes:
    • Some of the more slapstick humor like Luke with the milk or Finn in the leaking Bacta Suit. Just kinda made me eye-roll instead of laugh.
    • Benicio Del Toro's whole character arc, or lack-thereof. His character (and most of the Canto Bight stuff) felt shoehorned in. I was fine with separating the main cast, but this whole thing came at the expense of Laura Dern's character… didn't she basically sacrifice herself because they failed on their mission? Would've loved to see more of Admiral Holdo. Oh well…

  25. I like when people preface their hot take with "just gonna come out and say ..." and then follow it up with the exact same comment no one that didn't like TLJ has been "afraid" to say. This take isn't original or hot! :crylaugh:
