TLJ will tie directly into this movie and it's just part of the natural conversation.... I just like talking movies, it being derailed a bit doesn't bother me.

Also doesn't complaining about derailment actually derail it just the same? Reminds me of mass emails at work where people keep replying to all asking for people to stop "replying all". A never ending cycle.

I get your point but I think there's a big difference between discussing possible tie-ins to this film and just plain discussing what we did/didnt like about TLJ and plot points about TLJ specifically.

Fair point, but I am going to have to ask you to rank your favorite MCU movies first before we continue this conversation.

Seriously though, this movie may or may not try and recon things from TLJ that has the fan base split so it seems like a natural point of conversation to me.

All I wanna know is who the fuck is Snoke, especially if Palpatine shows up.

Snoke was the supreme leader who is now dead, so Kylo is the supreme leader. That's all we need to know.

While I loved the choice to kill him off,I think it’s totally understandable to want to know some stuff about Snoke. Honestly minus Luke, as far as Force power we’ve never seen somebody as powerful in the Living Force. He was alive during the Clone Wars and Galactic Civil War but wasn’t involved. There’s a lot of stuff to mine from that.

I’m not saying I need a power point presentation or even an explanation in the movie personally but I would love a novel or other canon material telling what he’s all about.

Also wouldn’t mind if Palpatine is somehow transitively connected to him somehow.

Yeah I really wanted to know and see more of that.

I love the way Kylo out smarted him, but wish it was maybe more towards the end of the movie and he was more fleshed out more.

It is completely reasonable to want to know who Snoke is, especially if they’re going to reintroduce Palpatine.

I could see a mini series with finn. He’s definitely the biggest SW fan of the cast and I think he’d love to be the lead role. I feel like he’s implied publicly he wish Finn was a Force user. Not that he would be in this but I think he’d love the chance to be in the spotlight.

it’s like people forget that, before Anakin, there were no Jedi “bloodlines,” and every great Jedi came from nothing.

    :praise:

it seems like it’s been a similar production to the OT in that there were different writers/directors for several of the films, but with the same general “team” overseeing the whole story

right but in the 70s the corporatization of studios like disney was hardly what it is now. no one would have known who the kathleen kennedy of the 70s was then. she’s arguably the most central figure to this universe in 2019.

Yeah the older films shows Jedi don’t have to be related to be force sensitive. There were thousands of Jedi. Rey being related to a Jedi wouldn’t mean force strength is exclusive to a gene. The reason why I would like for her to have a connection to the Skywalkers is because these films take place in the Skywaker saga. The films, ever since 1980, have been about the family. This film is the last of the Skywalker saga. If they want to have people with no connection to the Skywalkers then fine, but narratively it would just be more cathartic imo if Rey followed through bloodline or has a connection in someway to the Skywalkers that no one else has. Of course I know Ben is a skywalker by blood, but if he dies being a villain that would be such a slap to the face of the Skywalker line. The last surviving member of the Skywalkers killed being a bad guy would be the biggest load of BS. Rey also being so strong with the force so quickly (let’s be real, Luke barely trained her, he gave her 3 lessons) wouldn’t make sense to me unless there was a force divine intervention enabling her to do so.

As much as I’d like all of the above, if in TROS she is confirmed to have really come from no ones then it won’t break her character for me. I’m not mad at the decision, I just feel that for the story taking place on the Skywalker saga it would be a great way to end the 9 films by having the family bringing balance at the end. No matter where Rey comes from she is still a top tier character for me in the entire franchise.

  21. Yep, and why it's specifically important to these stories is because Luke and Rey have been built up to be the saviors, the great, big, heroes. And that to save the galaxy you need to come from some kind of lineage I think sends all kinds of the wrong message. That The One needs to be derived of Skywalker blood removes from these films the very idea that we all can be great, we all can save the galaxy, and that we don't need to sit around waiting for a savior "destined" to be great.

  23. Why? The Skywalker line has killed millions of people and failed often. That failure, that tragedy, is just as much a part of the story. Families have heroes, they have unappreciated heroes (Leia), and they have villains and failures. That's actually real and true. The idea that Anakin's grandson and the Skywalker-line may die with that reality isn't a slap in the face, it's a fact of life and a remembrance to not think the story ends triumphant and dancing to the Yub Nub song. The work is never done.

This argument still doesn't make any sense to me, we meet people strong with the force with little training quite often in this series. Natural skill + being force sensitive is a powerful thing. (I also think she trained with Luke way longer than 'just three lessons'.)

so good haha. this is basically what Rian’s offshoot trilogy is gonna be focused on, right?

extremely excited for the GOT bros’ trilogy too. they would absolutely kill a KOTR type storyline.
