Look. As an adopted person in a family with multiple generations of adoption & fostering. Someone who, at 30, still knows nothing about his biological lineage & doesn't care outside of vague scientific curiosity (& not enough to have done any searching). Bloodline is highly overrated. Family, identity, etc., have no place being defined in such terms. It's pointless & lame.

I just came across a theory that I saw on another message board that was interesting. There was a thread about Rey’s parents and someone put together info that made them think she could be a clone from Luke’s hand that was chopped off in Empire and that’s the “story for another time” that Max mentioned. At first I thought that was dumb but I read how they supported it and now I think it’s interesting. They think she was cloned by the first order or some faction like them in an attempt to fight Luke. She didn’t show any force sensibilities at a young age so she was scrapped. A couple grew to like her and were told to kill her but didn’t want to so they left her on Jakku and said she was dead.

This explains why Luke’s lightsaber is drawn towards her. When she first touched it the first vision she saw was the hallway in cloud city and we hear Luke yelling no in the scene where he just lost his hand and found out Vader is his father.

In the cave scene in TLJ, Rey’s sees multiple copies of herself and could be representing all the failed clones that came before her. Then when she sees herself in the mirror, she sees herself because she doesn’t have any parents because she’s a clone.

This is what made it interesting, the original opening scene to TFA was Luke’s hand floating in space. Why would that be unless it was going to be important later on?

At first I didn’t like this theory but now it’s slowly becoming more fascinating to me. It’s far-fetched but Abrams is definitely going to put a spin on the whole thing like he does with everything else. Also, since Palpatine is back, his return in the comics dealt with cloning so there could be a connection.

Either something wild like this or she was somehow conceived by the force similar to how anakin was. I don’t think they’ll make her an actual skywalker.

Her being conceived by the force would be something I could get behind as well. It happened to Anakin so why not her as well.

I would imagine it does world wide

  7. It will be something simple like Rey taking the name Skywalker out of respect for Luke and all he taught her

It would make all the growth she's made so far nearly moot. Any relation to anyone already existing in the canon would be such a kick in the ass. Ugh. I can't believe it was done correctly in TLJ after so much speculation and now we're already being teased that it's going to be altered.

  13. Do we think that Kathleen Kennedy and the suits at Disney would allow JJ to do that?

JJ is a corporate friendly director who loves big twists and moments, if he were to tie Rey’s lineage to significant characters I doubt he’s being forced to.

That being said I’m trusting he respects TLJ and won’t do that.

It’s hard. They are different angles. Just looked up the a wing design. Both in the picture have thinner wings on the side of the main body where an a-wings wings are more apart of the body. also the thrusters in the two pictures look attached to the ship where a wings thrusters are kind of longer behind the ship.

Maybe though. Definitely could see either

As long as Rey isn’t connected to some of Palpatine’s “force creations” then I’m good. I think that would be mega whack.

Did they confirm that Leia is going to die between movies or in the movie somehow during all the celebration talks and interviews? I'm sure they talked about how difficult it would be, not re-casting or doing CGI to replace her, etc... But is the characters' death known to be in it?

Is there any way that she doesn't die and is maybe in the background or elsewhere pulling strings that eventually help lead to the ultimate conclusion of the whole saga?

It's a far stretch, but interesting to think about.

And when it comes to the MCU/SW debate.

The high points of the Star Wars franchise are a step over the high points of the MCU but the low points are 3 steps lower than any low points in the MCU. I don’t think people will really compare them in the future because of how different the forms of narrative are but I can see the Guardians trilogy being compared to Star Wars.
