I agree this trailer is way better. I watched it 10+ and now I'm watching TFA

 

I prefer the TFA trailer

The "what is happening" of an unmasked and confused stormtrooper is abrupt and intriguing with the visual backdrop of the open desert and a grave and disembodied Snoke voice before we knew he looked like baby gollum

and it had the amazing visual feast of the standoff in the snowy woods

 

I preferred TFA trailer as well, but that's because I feel like the whole trailer was a mystery and I kind of know where TLJ is heading after TFA. Also, the lack of Han :[

 

I think those that say they know what’s gonna happen should post spoiler theories so we can see if they were right. I feel like my guesses would be at best 20% right based on what we’ve seen/heard.

 

(I also wish I hadn’t seen the Han entrance in the TFA Trailer.)

 

I wish we didnt see the vader helmet in trailers. I would have lost it in the theater if that was a surprise.

 

Also, just got an email from fandango to redeem my free poster so heck yeah

 

Oh that one too actually. Good call.

 

The one thing that I think is slightly spoilerish from the trailer is that Kylo seems to still be struggling with the dark side, whereas when he killed Han I thought that was seemingly a definitive answer on that.

 

I hope this doesn’t end with Rey captured. You justttttt got captured. I think it’s more her jumping the gun and trying to save finn or something.

 

I'm even more clueless about the direction of the movie after seeing the trailer.

 

Yeah! Maybe it'll be like Follow That Bird where Big Bird (Finn) is trying to run away from the crazy adoption lady (Phasma) and the rag tag gang of Sesame Street characters (Rey, Chewie, etc.) are trying to bring Big Bird (Finn) back to Sesame Street ("home") where he belongs. Ha.

 

This goes completely over my head but that sounds like an amazing episode of Sesame Street.

 

Yeah getting captured 2 movies in a row is getting close to Princess Peach territory.

 

Finn beats Phasma, “Sorry your princess is in another one of Darth Vader’s castles”

 

Needed an extra $7 for an Amazon addon purchase. So I grabbed a Last Jedi Rey Funko.

 

Hahaha it was one of my favorite movies as a kid.

Anyway...... carry on. Haha.

 

His reaction immediately after he did it and before he gets shot by Chewie is one of shock and slight uncertainty to me. He was determined to do it. But once he did it, his reaction is not celebratory or anything. It’s pretty quiet.

 

I guess I didn't pick up on that as much. His moment of choice seemed to go from seeming "on the fence" to the light literally eclipsing on his face, making it seem like his good is completely gone with the choice he's about to make. Then his battle/dialogue with Finn and Rey seemed to secure that more so. Trailer seemed like nothing but confliction for him.

Some of this discussion is reminding me why spoiler culture annoys me.

People can enjoy films however they want, but putting basic premise and plot details under the umbrella of "spoiler" dilutes that term a ton while over complicating how one is allowed to talk about a movie. Marketing should be allowed to say, at least in broad strokes, where the characters are at the start of a film and what kind of journey or goals they have before them.

 

My spoiler theories Rey and Kylo both join together at the end and try to become neutral “grey” jedi, in order to try to balance the light and dark side and Luke agrees to help them in doing so in Ep IX. I fully believe Luke has mastered the dark side, while still being a Jedi, and it will be revealed while he’s training Rey.

I think I agree with the line of thinking that we over-use the "spoiler" term, when basic plot details are everywhere and for a franchise as secretive as SW, anything made public by them in terms of plot is something they won't consider to be a spoiler, but I can also understand people wanting to go into the film completely fresh and being able to spoiler tag things here so people can take part in convo. without reading through things they dont want to know yet isn't a bad thing.

some people may just not want to know yet that guardians of the galaxy team up with finn and poe in this episode.

 

I haven't (yet?). Gonna see how long I can hold off.
