He did clarify that. It was less severe than the quote initially let on.

The fact that JJ Abrams asked Carrie Fisher's daughter to act for the lead of Rey makes me think Rey is potentially the secret daughter of Han and Leia. But that casting would've made that apparent conclusion seem too obvious.

Still think Rey and Ben are probably cousins, but y'know, this sibling kinship also makes sense as yet another plot device from the originals for JJ to steal from.

    Fight the long defeat.

From the moment I walked out of TFA, I've hoped that Rey is not a Skywalker. When your entire audience suspects the same revelation, you haven't written creatively enough. While Star Wars obviously revolves around the Skywalker family to a large degree, let's not relate every central character by blood.

I just don’t see how she could be Han and Leia’s kid. They both interacted with her and I would imagine you’d know your own daughter. If there is any connection with her though, I definitely put my money on Rey being in attendance at Luke’s Jedi academy before Kylo went bananas.

It's Luke and Leias kid obviously, immaculately conceived from their kiss in Empire

i really like the theory that Rey is a descendant from the original force users.. I can't remember their names right now but they are the ones that wrote the books that are showed in the trailer.

I like the idea that Rey isn't connected to the Skywalker or Kenobi family. Let her be her own thing. That would be more interesting to me.

The main Star Wars saga has always been connected to the Skywalkers anyway. Considering the limited genetic pool of Jedi, she's almost bound to be related, unless she was conceived by "the force" in a virgin mary birth (like Anakin)...

Rian Johnson said it in an interview. I know it's a big reveal, but the director put it out there. Sorry.

there is no requirement to have force-wielding/Jedi parents in order for someone to be a force-user.
which makes sense since, you know, Jedi weren't allowed to marry and raise a family, so new recruits had to come from outside of that circle.
