Honestly Rian or Ava would be my top choices. Both are outstanding filmmakers who will have proven themselves with big movies by the time this rolls around.

GDT is a great director. Don't know how I feel about him taking on a main series Star Wars film though.

 

I'd be very down with Johnson returning. Matt Reeves would be awesome for sure. I'd also be very onboard with Coogler, Ava, or Patty Jenkins.

 

Yeah, I love GDT, but that would be a no from me.

I would really be interesting in a SW film directed by David Fincher.

GDT could make a great Star Wars movie because he's a great director.

 

Time for the auteur, and award winning director Tom DeLonge to shine.

 

I'd say maybe Edgar Wright but he won't be working with Disney anytime soon

 

Early on in the film we'd be introduced to a spunky teen pilot named Poet who loves to dream.

 

According to Tom he has met with Disney before, so... looking forward to the AVA soundtrack, coming out two years after the movie.

 

It's gotta be someone who has a sense of style but that style doesn't overpower the story. Someone like Edgar, Tarantino, Lynch, etc. I think would overpower the story. Rian I think we'll see in TLJ is just stylish enough but it won't take us out of the SW feel.

I'm one of the few that would not prefer JJ to come back. I liked his work in TFA, but it was still much of the same. Rian seems to be showing us at least a portion of new things that we wouldn't expect from SW.
