Star Wars: The Last Jedi (Rian Johnson, December 15, 2017) Movie • Page 60

  1. He turned down ROTJ. Doubt he's changed his mind on that.

I'd watch a "side" SW movie from him though.

  4. It's actually incredible how boring that movie is. Especially with the actors they have to work with. It's up there with Crystal Skull as one of the bigger theatre let downs I can remember.

It's not THAT bad, but it wasn't the greatest either.

Because it's so very clearly not ever going to happen. I would love the reaction of unfamiliar Star Wars fans walking out of a David Lynch movie, though.

  19. If my nerd friend groups, website/online browsing knowledge is representative, the overlap of Star Wars and David Lynch fans is probably pretty high.

I already mentioned him, but Matt Reeves has proven with the Apes trilogy that he knows how to work within a franchised blockbuster environment while still holding true to his vision. With that said, this is Disney, and that's a whole different beast I imagine.

I'm sure plenty of David Lynch fans are Star Wars fans, but Star Wars is the biggest property in the world. Of all the people who went to see the Force Awakens, I doubt very much more than half of them know what Inland Empire is.

  23. I don't think everyone that goes to see a Star Wars movie is a "star wars fan" in the way I'm talking about SW fans. The diehards that live and breathe and built the movies to the hype/level they get.

  24. Did that end up beating or disappointing revenue expectations?

His work on The Batman is probably gonna keep him locked up for the foreseeable future anyway.

Disappointing I'm fairly certain. It was a pretty steep drop off from Dawn. Which I honestly understand. I really enjoyed War, but it was probably one of the more bleak movies I've seen all year.
