What?! They did an incredible job of merging all of the eras together! Bet you most of those people didn’t even visit it yet. I generally see/hear comments like that and feel sad that people have that miserable enough of an existence to get upset by that and try to ruin it for everyone. It’s part of their personality/ego complex and must be exhausssting

I love The Last Jedi, but I’m so glad Rian Johnson didn’t get boxed in to making Star Wars movies for a decade.

I'm not rejecting it, it's just exhausting to talk about sometimes. This thread is obviously a safe space (I would hope) where I can speak freely about my experiences. It's anecdotal for me so I can't speak to your experiences. For example, a few weeks ago I was talking to a guy I just met casually about SW and he started talking about how he's come around on the prequels once he decided Jar-Jar was actually the main character. Then he introduced me to some kid who was like "name every member of the Jedi Council!" and I was like nah bro I'm out

Then again I was that kid at one point in time so I get it lol

I think I said it before but the main IRL talk about The Last Jedi I had was with a co-worker who would tell me on a daily basis how much he hated it. It was like his entire life was consumed by it. He’d send me videos weekly about “conclusive evidence” why it sucked. It killed my love of the franchise, though that has been repaired somewhat after he left. It was incredibly weird behavior.

  5. All fanbases suck - entertainment, sports, etc. It's definitely exhausting and glad I'm not as online as I was when I was younger.

I went to a Star Wars themed dinner last night put on by a nomadic chef and his friends and one of the dishes was called "Chewie Chews on a Porg"

All future star wars movies are in flux. Disney had big plans but kinda got freaked out by the most vocal online voices about TLJ and the underwhelming box office disappointments of Solo and ROS, so they retreated to Disney+ for now.

Any movie announcement they made, including the Rogue Squadron movie with Patty Jenkins is not a sure thing at all (remember the Weiss & Beinoff Star Wars movie that was supposed to happen until GOT Season 8 aired?)

It's for the best the movies are being put on ice for now, we need a break. Star Wars isn't Marvel. A Star Wars movie should be treated as a special event that doesn't happen every year.

  11. I'd have to think we'd get a movie(s) set in the high republic era. The books are great for the most part and you'd think they would want to capitalize on the initiative.

I agree that star wars doesn't need to be marvelized and have four movies every year but having one every two or three years would be fine to me. But they have to be good.

It's absolutely wacky that marvel can pump out all these movies and fans seem pretty satisfied for the most part but lucasfilm cant figure it out.

I don’t think they should delay releasing movies if they can make them good with less time between them. Marvel released 2-4 movies a year at this point and still have a lot on new that feel like huge events. No Way Home and Multiverse of Madness are massive releases in under 5 months. Personally, I’d stick to one Star Wars a year. Stick to the same month and make it an annual tradition, December worked wonders for them overall. Doing less movies to somehow theoretically create some vague feeling of special that will vary drastically from person to person just isn’t a very convincing argument. My screenings of the Last Jedi were all special. It being one year out from Rogue One made zero difference to me.

id take SW series 100% over movies. felt that way for a while even before Mando. would also like more “new” personally.

don't see why we have to choose. My top Star Wars moments come from both movie and tv. No need to ignore one for the other.

    My unpopular Star Wars opinions:

1.) I mostly don’t care about the franchise outside of film. To me, a fundamental element of the property is the way it takes an episode of a hypothetical classic pulp serial and makes it into a cinematic event. Translating that to television is a natural evolution now that the technology is there, but for me, it loses something pretty essential in that format.

2.) I’d rather have a Star War connect to other Star Wars I like than have something disconnected and “new.” If the aesthetics are all the same, but there’s no direct relationship to the characters and/or stories I’ve already come to love, then that soap opera aspect is lost and replaced with what feels like a pointless action figure repaint. And, if you stray far enough… why can’t it just be a new thing, instead of another Star War? (Outside of the depressing market aspect, of course.) Connectivity has been used poorly, but when done well, it’s pretty compelling imo.

  18. You like having star wars connect to already known star wars but you don't care about the tv shows? Gotta get on clone wars and rebels If you haven't watched them.

well they have released 11 movies

wat. did you ever play any of the Knights of the Old Republic stuff? its all “new” form the characters of the movies but its not disconnected because its still jedi and sith and the SW universe. the universe is way to fleshed out and good to always be stuck on old characters imo.

“You don’t care about the tv shows? You should watch these two tv shows!”

lol. Ashoka seems like a cool addition to the canon, but I have no interest in that many hours of Star Wars material, especially with an animation style that doesn’t really do it for me.

  21. Not caring about the tv shows wasn't specific - couldn't tell if you watched some of them and didn't like them or you just had no interest. But liking the connectivity of star wars but not wanting to bother with some of the shows just seems like two ideas at odds with each other.

I agree with not looking forward to completely “new” Star Wars. What I loved about the films was the space opera. It’s what made it unique and not just another sci-fi.

The only SW games I ever played were the ones connected to the films.

Also why Kenobi is the first SW show I’m hyped for. I know Kenobi and look forward to the emotional weight brought on from Vader due to what he meant to Kenobi in the films.

Nah. If I’d gotten them at the right time, I probably would’ve been into them, but I was super casual with video games growing up and don’t feel super motivated to go back.

From what I know about it, though, it does seem like one of the more interesting premises that could be explored in a new film. Give that to Rian Johnson (though I’d prefer more Knives Out & other stuff from him) or Taika Waititi (though I wanna get The Incal from him after Thor) or whoever, and the results will probably be dope.

I mean, aspects of what I know about those shows fits into what I’d want out of a Star Wars film; I’d just rather get it as a film instead of a television/streaming series. But like, as flawed as Rogue One was, it was probably about 75-80% of the way into the kinda Star Wars spin-off I’d love.

Rogue One is the best Disney-era SW, imo. I like the sequel trilogy, but RO felt like getting a thirst-quenching fresh cup of water. The characters were new, but they were brought together by a struggle that was fought for by characters I grew up with and knew.
