Because threads exist for conversation, & one perfectly reasonable, normal conversation topic is what you don't like about something w/in a bigger thing you do like.

If it were a matter of someone who has always hated all things Star Wars coming in here to shit all over something they've got no investment in & anyone who does like it, I'd get it. But, this is pretty consistently a case of people who love Star Wars (or used to love it & still love bits of it) talking about this thing they've spent years investing in. And, that investment brings with it frustration at its failings.

Like, there's stuff I've heard about Game of Thrones that sounds awful to me... but, I've literally never cared about any version of that franchise, so I've never talked about it, except when people tied to it were brought up in a Star Wars thread as potentially developing a film. There are films I've seen & didn't like, that were being discussed here, that I've said little or nothing about. But, I love Star Wars at its best. And, I love Spider-Man more than literally any other pop culture property that's ever existed. So, I talk about 'em a lot.

Sorry if it bums you out to see people dunk on something you love. I've been bummed at that before, too. But, that's an irreplaceable piece of online discussion. Or, really, any discussion. As long as it ain't entering into harrassment, bigotry, etc., you just gotta deal w/ it. (Especially if it's over space wizard pulp serials; good people often disagree on much weightier topics.)

Rian's returning to sci-fi. Really hope he gets behind the camera for some episodes. There's a sequence in the second book of this trilogy that's very reminiscent of the Holdo Manuever.

Rewatching this again and I’ve got nothing of substance to add to the thread. I’d just like to express that I fucking love this movie.

 

Okay, so let’s say hypothetically, these weren’t the droids you’re looking for. You see, the droids you’re looking for have the Death Star plans, correct? However, as those droid are close minded liberals, and these droids are free thinking informed conservatives, these would not be the droids you’re looking for. Now, if you were to assume that these droids are the droids you’re looking for because they are a protocol droid and an astromech, then that would actually make you the real racists, as you would assume that all astromech droids have the death star plans. So if this were true, these aren’t the droid you’re looking for.
