Yeah, you're right. Seemingly, she only knows Darth Vader is Luke's father. She doesn't know Anakin Skywalker became Darth Vader. Think her strong reaction is just based on the preconceived knowledge that Darth Vader is the big bad guy - without the context of the character.

Frankly, Luke should have never had the 'Skywalker' surname - or better yet, at least have it revealed that Owen and Beru gave him that name to hide him from the empire. That'd prevent such an obvious connection to Anakin.

 

So Ep9 is set for May 24, 2019 release. Only a year and a half wait instead of a 2-year wait!

Also, I really hope they show the teaser trailer for this in front of Guardians.

 

Man, i'd be pretty impressed if Solo and 9 stick to those May dates.

 

I kind of like the December release for Star Wars, but I'm not going to complain about getting episode IX earlier!

 

Also a little bummed, I like having SW has a Christmas present, even if it means waiting longer.

 

Agreed, it's kinda become part of that Christmas holiday tradition for me, even after only two years. Even my work knows to cancel all my lessons the night of the Thursday premiere ha.

 

My co-worker just mentioned to me that would could get a Star Wars Story Christmas 2019. Kinda adds up, that would be a year and a half between each standalone if the release dates don't get pushed back. So maybe we get a double dose that year. As long as quality holds up (currently don't doubt it wouldn't), I'm cool with it. And 6 months between films won't be unheard of at that point.

 

Well, that's a bummer.

 

Yea, feeling pretty worried about 9 tbh. HOWEVER. I was proven wrong about Gareth & the other writers on Rogue One. Perhaps Colin & his writing partner can redeem themselves or do something good with the pieces given to them.

 

9 will be good or else they will redo it until it is good

 

Can't wait for the series reboot in 2020. Everything dark, shadowy. A lonesome drunk named Luke wanders the streets of NYC...

 

Oh no, I was running off the info that Johnson wrote the IX story treatment.

 

How much freedom do the writers have. Doesn't lucasfilm or Disney really control these stories? Isn't the vision already there? I'm not belittling the script work but I feel like Disney wouldn't allow for some awful script to get them to where they want the story to go.

 

I'm sure there's some sort of vision or oversight.

Yea, I'm not worried about 9 being good, Disney won't let it suck. It's just disappointing, because Johnson has proven to be a guy who understands how to write a good story.

 

would be so interesting to know how much input a star wars director gets even on shot composition or duration. much less, screenplay or script.
