Absolutely, and they touch on that in the review. It's easy to dismiss things like that as "nitpicky" but those moments are not insignificant and have an effect on the viewer, intentional or not.

I agree the Rey, "Woo! I like this!" feels out of place. I don't think the remaining resistance members hugging and looking hopeful is an issue though.

Yeah, Rey being all woohoo in the MF has always been a bit strange to me as well, but I guess I try to reason it as she can’t be bummed out while her friends are in danger (that would be odd to watch) and also it’s a fun fist pump kind of moment.

I get that a lot of people don't like what he did, and I admit I struggle with some of the choices too, kinda like how Mark Hamill seems to himself, but I'll take someone doing something interesting with the story any day over playing it extremely safe a la The Force Awakens story-wise.

I do have to say though that reaction was exactly how I felt the first time I watched The Last Jedi as the movie began - especially when Luke unceremoniously chucks the light saber over his shoulder - only it won me over as the movie went along and by the end I was fully on board with what was happening.

 

Every time I think about this movie, I'm so glad it went in the directions it did. Moments and decisions that seem jarring at first but make sense when you think about them. It's perfect in that way. I'm sure he is, but I really hope Rian is proud of what he accomplished here.

 

This is the top selling blu-ray domestically of 2018 btw, by a good margin.

That's really cool, I wouldn't have thought so after all the hyperbole hate I hear about it. Even as someone who didn't like it, I'm so tired of hearing about it haha.

Surprised Justice League is so high on that list.
