Fair enpugh. But even so, you have to factor all the difficulties the actors of the prequels had to face, ie going overboard on the CGI. To quote Hayden Christensen:
"I wish they taught green screen acting classes."

But yeah, I agree there's good and bad in both trilogies. Just definitely don't feel the originals showcased any examples of acting that the prequels didn't match too.

Carrie is great in the originals too... also would have to say outside of a new hope I always really liked mark hamills performance. He gross well with his character and shows what it's like to
    Mature into a Jedi.

Becoming a jedi or maturing as a jedi has never been portrayed very well in the movies imo. Luke is able to tango with Vader too quickly. With Rey it's obv she's wielded force powers for some time. We always see jedi who have been jedi for some time or we saw Luke's quick training and Vader battles.

and idk if its completely just the written dialogue but Ewan McgGregor in prequels has me rolling on the floor when I catch them on

Princess Leia herself was a great character. But Carrie Fisher honestly gave a pretty mediocre performance. In A New Hope she keeps slipping into a faux-British accent (probably cos she was surrounded by a lot of British actors). But yeah, nothing that really took away from the film. Just don't see any exceptional performances from Mark or Carrie - but both did improve. Pretty sure they've said before they didn't take the first film that seriously because they felt it'd be a flop.

The original cast are still icons and I wouldn't change them regardless.

I think Luke is stronger in empire than you realize.. a lot of time had past since a new hope and I believe he began tapping into his power.. also apparently Luke is with yoda longer than the film leads you to believe.. give one of the strongest force users in canon a couple of weeks with he most knowledgeable being of the force in cannon and you get someone powerful enough to at least compete with darth. Even though Vader could have EASILY killed him if he wanted to... he didn't want to

It feels a bit slap dash. If Lukes with Yoda for weeks and its not clear to the audience idk doesnt seem particularly effective to me. Weeks arent very long anyways. Suspension of disbelief is very strong when watching a Star Wars film I only merely feel that theres ways it could have been portrayed more strongly to me. But perhaps it would have been boring anyways. We might get an hours worth of Reys boring training in TLJ. Empires my favorite. Luke tangos with Vader gets struck and then Vader could easily kill him but doesnt.

Maybe Vaders trying to train Luke with his battles in Empire. But RoTJ takes place how much longer after Empire?

Whether or not that feels believable is up to the individual I suppose

Time dilation. Luke could have been training with Yoda for YEARS before he ended up on Cloud City.

    You don't know.

  13. He's actively trying to recruit him.

  14. I've tried to make this same argument before, I really do think it's true. They had basically one job in the trilogy, show me that .... and they failed at it.

Yeah. Idk if Luke is supposed to be any kind of match for Vader at all in Empire now that I'm thinking about it. But he definitely is by the events of RotJ.

    Clone Wars Anakin >>>

They came very close to showing that in the show and I'm so sad they didn't.

How is Anakin's turn sudden? There's glimpses of the "fear and hate" (which Yoda states as the path to the darkside) even in AotC:

At 2:02 you can even hear a glimpse of the Imperial March. He had plenty of reasons to turn after a growing distrust in the Jedi and Palpatine being an almost father figure of him seducing him with the power to save his secret wife and child. Didn't feel sudden at all to me.

I mean "become powerful enough to keep your lover from ever dying" is a cool story beat and incentive enough to consider for anyone whos ever been in love.

Padme and Annakin had such an amazing relationship. They both don't like sand, etc.

The Ghosts of Mortis episode where he sees his future about does the job

  20. John Siracusa has a good rant about it in one of the Incomprable episodes about the prequel, I laugh just thinking about it.

And yeah, cartoon Anakin was better in every facet.

    Very true.

I'm just glad Matt Lanter is returning to voice him in the Forces of Destiny series. Really looking forward to those.

AotC's original draft (Hales?) had more Obi-Wan investigating the clones but Lucas changed that to have more emphasis on the relationship between Anakin and Padmé.

Regarding the whole "hating sand" thing. If you grew up as a slave on a desert planet, with it also being the place your mother was tortured and killed, you probably wouldn't have liked sand either. If that line is going to be there, then at least maybe emphasising some PTSD connection could've made a better execution. But then again, just the thought of Vader avoiding sand just seems a bit much.

anakin literally turns to the dark side mid scene without any thought. hes not gradually changing over the movies. he has like two random outbursts before turning. its not like theres any hinting towards it; he only begins to talk to palpatine and distrust the jedi like...two scenes before he changes over. it comes out of nowhere.

He goes from informing the Jedi council that Palpatine is a sith lord to becoming one himself and killing children in the space of like 5 minutes.

And then there's Palpatine just being like, "hmm let's call you Vader. Yea, that sounds cool." It's like, damn, no back story there?
