I'll write you into all of my songs Supporter

I just think the set design of the casino was a little....bland? It was cool but it seemed way more confined that I was hoping

I think they could have kept the mission the same, looking for the coder with the red flower. But instead of the shuttle parking thing, when we get that scanning shot entering the casino we subtly see DJ pick-pocketing the flower off of Therox's character (something that maybe you don't catch on your first viewing). Then we go to to Finn and Rose exploring the casino and getting that bit of backstory while they watch the Fathier race. BB-8 then interrupts saying he found the coder, but instead of Therox they see DJ, who is using the red flower thing to place a bet. This is another way to let the audience know something's not right with this character. Then we get a fun gambling scene where Finn and Rose are trying to recruit this guy and make it seem like they know how to gamble plus DJ slowly figuring out it's a case of mistaken identity and that he can profit from it.

Then Therox's character, accompanied by casino security identify DJ as a thief and chase him along with Rose & Finn (because they are guilty by association now, kind of like Rey & Finn on Jakku in TFA). They release the Fathiers to wreck shit as a distraction while they steal a ship.

You could probably accomplish this in the same amount of time because it would cut out the 10 seconds we get with the guy complaining about the "shuttle parkers", cut the jail scene and decrease the length of the Fathier chase/wreckage.

  4. Honestly the casino scene seems shorter every time I watch it, but it's still my least favorite part of the movie

  5. I’m watching this right now and I want to love it but I can’t.

I don’t know if I can describe it but it feels so “all over the place.” Less like a movie and more like a long TV episode.

The casino sequence is so heavy handed it’s ridiculous. I am on board with the message but man it’s awful.

The acting from both Hamill and Fisher (RIP) are, to me, unitentionaly comedic.

Some cool sequences but after a second viewing a real let down after TFA.

Security guy, bartender, card dealer. Lots of options for my man JGL.

This is very true. And I still don't even think it's that bad. It just seems like it could have been much better.

Yea... I remember when early review came out and they said it was 20-30 minutes of the movie. Man were they off .

Really? I thought minus a couple lines Mark was great. In his flashback his reaction when his temple is burning i thought he was quivering his lip a bit much lol Most reviews also praised Mark as the best Luke performance he’s given. I agree.

I thought Carrie did better than she did in TFA too

Yea, Mark and Carrie were great.

IMO if there’s one thing you can’t critique this movie for it’s the acting. Some of the dialogue is a bit corny but performed well for what they were given.

Luke was as good in this movie as he ever has been in a SW movie. How much that says about him as an actor overall idk, but I thought he was great in this despite some of the comedic moments i thought felt forced.

  11. Mark and Carrie have never been great in my opinion, but the overall “lightheartedness” of the OT didn’t emphasize their lack of acting chops.

In my opinion they’re going for something much more serious with these new films and the acting deficiency is more apparent to me.

Again just my opinion. If others love it or like then that’s awesome, honestly.

I think that's a fair take on the acting. I think Ford did the best job of the 3.

Mark was amazing in this movie. I will hear nothing against that.

Why is it weird that people didn’t love the movie? Differentiating opinions on this site are never accepted.

Listening to the commentary now. First really interesting bit is that Holdo was originally
conceived and shot closer to her personality in the Leia book, but was changed in reshoots. That explains that big discrepancy between that book; it was probably too late to re-write the book to match the reshoots.

Did he say why? Im assuming her personality of being kind of jovial and quirky might have clashed with how Poe perceives her and that dynamic
