It’s now expected to finish #11 all time worldwide, behind Beauty and the Beast thanks to it flopping in China. I would have never thought Beauty and the Beast would beat this film world wide.

 

I didn't even know Beauty and the Beast was up there number wise. It's a fine movie, but doesn't deserve that title, esp over Jungle Book

 

Star Wars doesn’t do extremely well in China. Warcraft did better than the Force Awakens.

 

What's the reasons for that? Is it Star Wars similarities to Japanese Samurai?

 

Warcraft did better than a lot of films in China. Literally half of it’s world wide box office was from China. It made like $213 million in China when it’s WW box office was only $433 million. I can’t think of many films from American studios other than Avengers and Fast & Furious films that did as well as Warcraft did.

TFA made $125 million in China which is considerably good since that was it’s 3rd highest grossing region, behind only America and the UK. TLJ, on the other hand, has only made $28 million in China and has already left over 90% of the screens in that country.

 

A lot of time people cite that the original trilogy wasn't released there until 2015 (to hype up TFA). So there's zero nostalgia/build-up for the series.

the red/white theme in all the marketing looks so sick

 

buying as many versions as they release if they all look like this. TFA came out april 3rd or 4th and was on digital mid to end or march so that timeline makes sense

And they don’t elaborate on why they feel it insults their IQ

 

That first article says the cast isn’t attractive which is a damn lie

 

Getting good feedback in China is always a tough job if you don't use the same 10 A-list Hollywood actors.

 

I mean, everything is stupid compared to the cerebral genius of Warcraft or Wolf Warrior 2. Oscar Isaac and Daisy Ridley? Total uggos.
