The trailer is perfect I don't know what else you could want

 

Like a talking point....is what I would want from a trailer. We just saw a bunch of familiar imagery instead

 

That's because it's a teaser, not a trailer.

 

Oh good. That was a long teaser.

 

For sure.

 

Anyone have any guesses when an actual full trailer will be released? Does mid-summer sound about right? I NEED MORE.

 

Okay how about the fact that luke has discovered something much bigger and wants to end the Jedi order. That last dialogue in the teaser alone makes this remake worth it for me since it explains so much... it explains why the Jedi counsel of the old republic kept losing so many Jedi to the dark side, which while it's something we could assume it's never been confirmed in the series that force users shouldn't surprise the dark side, which is the direction i think the movies are going in. I've had a ton of great discussion with people over this teaser. I think that whole thing is really interesting along with showing the inscription of the Jedi order on that old book. I think there are a lot of great talking points here you just need to dig

 

Yea I'm going to say early to mid July

 

I mean I'm sure people get teased by "the last jedi" dialogue, I just wasn't idk.

I'm guessing the next full trailer appears at Comic Con or around that time if there's not going to be a Last Jedi Comic Con trailer, so mid/end July.

 

Plot twist: nothing in the teaser makes it into the movie.

Caught up with a friend over coffee this afternoon and exchanged a few thoughts on the new trailer + what we want to see in this and Episode IX.

• I don't want to see Luke or Leia die in this movie, mostly because I think it sets a precedent for killing a major character in each of the Episode films after The Force Awakens. I'm not sure how they'll write Leia out of the story, though, if it's not by killing her in The Last Jedi, so that may be unavoidable.
• That said, I think Luke will die by the time this trilogy is finished, and part of me would be intrigued to see if his death comes at Rey's hands, whether by accident or due to a clash in ideologies during her training. Ideally, Luke dies at the start of IX so we can focus on the new characters to conclude the story.
• Kylo Ren's struggle to resist temptation to the light side of the Force was one of my favorite moments from VII, and I would love to see that explored more. Villains rarely seem to question their own ideals (at least far less often than "good" characters); they're evil simply because the story needs a bad guy. I think it could be a really intriguing reversal to watch Kylo become disillusioned with the dark side. His shredded mask indicates at least some degree of rejection of his former identity, although that could easily be due to one of his tantrums.

TL;DR, I'm really excited for this movie and had to share the speculation. If it all sounds crazy, don't mind me.

 

I like the idea that Kyle Ren just NEEDS to keep purposefully doing evil things to try and force himself to the dark side.

Wonder how they could send Leia off without killing her. Whatever it is it's gotta happen in VIII unless it'll just be a reference or in the crawl of IX.

 

I think that's what they will do, bc they finished this movie thinking she would be in episode 9

 

It's possible they could retain some footage shot for The Last Jedi to finish her arc in IX, but that seems like a long shot, especially since they obviously couldn't have anticipated her passing to write VIII with that in mind.

 

Kathleen Kennedy has shot that down. She won't be appearing in IX at all.

 

I remember reading something that said she already had filmed some stuff for IX

EDIT: Maybe I'm wrong, looking at the last couple posts.

 

It didn't have a finished script before she passed according to Kennedy.

 

My theory is they open IX at Leia's funeral

 

Her brother came out and said something like that but it wasn't true. She is not going to be in episode 9
