Wonder how necessary the prequels will be to the new trilogy as a whole once it's all said and done. I don't believe watching TFA made me think about the prequels at all while watching it.

So something I've never thought about......

"In a galaxy far far away"

Is the entire canon of Star Wars supposd to be in 1 galaxy? Do they hop galaxies with their light speed travel or what?

    So assuming that this weekend...

You obviously need to re-watch the prequels because Snoke is Palpatine >-p

i only watched the prequels before TFA because we were just so hyped up, and my fiance hadn't seen episode 2 or 3 so it was a first time watch for a few of them. I don't think they're required viewing at all, but there's no harm in watching them. i'm omitting them just on personal preference (and also because I barely have time in the next week to watch the originals and TFA lol)

i might try to squeeze R1 in if theres time just because there's never a bad time to watch that one

Pretty sure it’s all just one galaxy. The “unknown regions” possibly might be another galaxy or at least the space outside of the galaxy. Idk if galaxies border other galaxies like countries? Idk I’m not a spaceologist.

It is odd if it does indeed all take place in one galaxy given hyperspeed.

If that's true, then I wouldn't be surprised if there's been some in universe reason why tucked away somewhere though.

Galaxies are fucking huge. According to this it would take almost 100,00 years to travel across the Milky Way traveling at light speed. So I think it makes sense for everything to take place in one galaxy

ive also been binging some Star Wars material in anticipation so idk how much more i can add to the convo other than what i was saying in the other SW thread about how incredible it is that the Clone Wars/Prequel saga still has so much good material despite how rocky its start was with the first two prequel movies. id really like to see more of a bridge between the prequels and the newer films but the little bits we get in Rogue One were really cool.

ive also been reading and watching a couple interviews with the new cast and i LOVE how enthusiastic they are about being apart of this series. Boyega in particular seems like hes having the time of his life.

Agreed on both accounts. I’ll say i feel daisy and John are kind of over the media aspect. They seem less happy doing these interviews then they were for TFA which makes sense since the novelty is gone for them and I’d probably be done with it too at this point. It’s gotta suck flying and being asked the same questions. Mark seems annoyed by it all and in the video I’m about to post literally says there’s no point in these things. (@20:40)

You can tell Gwendolyn, kelly and laura are loving it though it’s been fun watching them all excited but my favorite person to watch in all these interviews is rian

This video in particular was fun because there was no interviewer so they could just interact freely amonst themselves and you can see the great chemistry Rian has with all of them. He just seems so happy. his joy, his chemistry with this cast, the rumours of TLJ being great, Lucasfilms confidence in him, and also going back to Celebration and how much he cares about the fans and meeting fans in lines in the middle of the night makes me so happy he has his own trilogy and is one of the people in charge of what we get from Star Wars

I haven't read the Rolling Stone article yet, but this seems to pull from it (but no spoilers). Daisy actually cried once she heard JJ would be back ha, how sweet.

Also, Rian is perfect (as well as the entire cast) in this episode of the Star Wars Show:

speaking of interviews, this video is an absolute joy to watch. im really really glad the prequel cast got a warm reception. Ian and Hayden were both very funny and I loved Haydens little "its really good to see you guys" comment at the start of he and Ians little interview, I'm sure he and the other prequel actors are always a little nervous at events like this but to their credit theyre all great actors.

im just getting more and more pumped for TLJ. i need some Star Wars joy in my life

There are major spoilers out there. Apparently the Visual Dictionary is scanned and out there as well. If you were going to go dark, the time is now.

1 Week away! Before I go, any Box Office Predictions?

I get nobodys going to agree and i admit its wishful thinking but Im thinking it will at least get close to TFAs opening weekend. I get TFA had different circumstances, but my feeling is TFA broke records. RO did incredible and was a standalone. Both were very well received by critics and fans. Already you have an expanding expectation and anticipation.

My main thinking is: You have the OG generation of fans. You have the Prequel generation of fans, and now youve probably gained a whole new generation of fans with these two new movies that may have not been there for TFA.The marketing has been great. Having Luke in the marketing will have some effect. Also going forward past opening weekend if the reviews mirror how Lucasfilm seems to feel about the movie and it does get titles claiming "the best star wars movie ever", I think it could beat TFA.

Im going 251m. (Let me dream)

It all depends on repeat viewings, I think moviepass subscribers could push it over the edge.
