Me too! Although I now realize you really cant use a good portion of the internet when you do this lol I got spoiled on a lot just in youtube thumbnails and titles. Whats going to be hard is when i go to movies. Im probably going to have to wait outside the theatre like a jackass listening to when the previews are done before I sit down.

I definitely think he’s gonna be at least somewhat redeemed. I don’t know if it’ll happen in this episode or 9 though.

Haha I actually saw Blade Runner Thursday night! When I first noticed it was Rey, I blocked my eyes and turned off my hearing aids.

I turned my disability into a probility

Rey’s theme and palpatines theme could definitely be connected. The first 3 notes move almost identically and are really close interval wise. Ive been listening to themes and trying to piece together where Williams was pulling from for each character.

Rey’s theme is also the same chord progression as the force theme/skywalker theme but it’s always been unclear to me if that is Luke’s theme or just a force theme for the light side of the force.

Kylos theme can be heard on rotj when Leia unfreezes han from carbon... no idea if this was intentional or not but my fiancée was wondering if maybe Williams went back to every scene that Leia and han were in together and wanted to pull inspiration from one of those melodic elements.

I honestly can't remember the music in TFA. It just wasn't as captivating as the prequel's score for me.
I'm going to listen to the soundtrack today to see what you're talking about.

What track would be Kylos theme?

its actually first heard on the opening track towards the end

he also has two themes, one isn't as dark as the other leading people to believe it matches how he is conflicted between the light and dark side. if you google it, you could probably find it easier.

I love the TFA score, the new themes really captivated me and when I hear them in the new trailers they pull me in and emote hard. especially Jedi steps!

I just don't have the ear for music that you do. I rarely even pay attention to the music in a film my first few sittings.

TFA score is incredible, and the score for the prequels might be one of the only redeeming things about them because I do enjoy the music in those as well, but TFA was just so freaking good. Just hearing certain pieces would make me sit down and watch the entire movie. I am hoping for the same for TLJ.

The first time I heard Duel of the Fates I thought "oh man, the phantom menace is going to be the best movie ever!"
They had a music video for DotF that was on MTV. I think it even ranked pretty high on TRL. Haha

Yeah as strongly as I dislike TPM, DotF might be a top 5 SW piece. It's not John's fault the films themsevelves were trash!

How much can someone who murders their parent(s) be redeemed?

They retroactively made Annakin a mass child murderer and expect it not to mess up his eventual redemption in RoTJ where he's got a force ghost and everything. Geez

By saving/sacrificing himself a new character we love maybe? Not sure if you were just speaking rhetorically. Im sure most wont forgive him no matter what but the shapeshifter archetype that starts off ostensibly "bad" and everyone hates and eventually shows his true colors is usually a fan favorite. Vader, Casterfo(Bloodline), Zuko, Snape, etc. Most of those characters die and redeem themselves by doing something for/saving characters we love.

Edit: but I agree that would be the most drastic turn of any of that archetype i can think of considering he killed a fan favorite on screen and collects ashes of the peoples hes killed lol

Idk it was kind of rhetorical

But for me at least, the aforementioned Annakin stuff is completely tone deaf and makes the morality of the films suspect when I think about it. And it sounds like they might have that sort of story beat again without learning that there's actually a lot of cognitive dissonance for a pseudo moral audience to deal with there.

It sort of even echos the conflict of 'stormtroopers are now brainwashed slaves', but they are still fodder or obstacles to kill for the good guys to save the universe from the big bad.

Yeah I hear you. All the cases I can think of like that are either animated or not as bad of acts as Vader or Kylo.

On one side the awful things make the story more real and it gives some weight to the power of the dark side and how fucked up it can turn you if you let it. That aspect i like story wise in a general sense but Star Wars is for children as well and yea anakins was obviously unjustifiable and an awful decision by Lucas so I agree.

Aside from the recycled storyline aspect that would bother me it would be really fucked up and adulterate this trilogy if kylo does turn and they gloss over all he’s done with killing him off or blaming snoke for everything and no retribution or regret
