It's not really talking about the "scientific accuracy" of the film, but instead if you were to look at the physics of certain elements of the film, to try and figure out what the numbers would actually be in real life. It's a fun mental exercise to see how the things would actually work/what numbers would actually be involved

Movies with Mikey is a solid youtube series. His reviews are far more insightful than most.

I liked the ending of RO more, but I found TFA more sataistying since it gave us stronger characters who we will get to spend time with and know more. I just find more depth there.

But the action in RO is phenomenal and possibly the best in all of SW.

They are very different movies though, so I don't want to compare them too much. They had very different goals.

    So general consensus:

This thread enjoyed it more on average than TFA?

I preferred this, but I've also seen tfa 6+ times and could just be sick of it/hyped on this one bc it's so new

Both are enjoyable. Both have frustrating flaws.

This is the TFA thread. But I think you mean you prefer Rogue One?

  18. TFA > RO

i need to see Rogue One again a couple more times to enjoy it more, i think. but TFA blew me away the first time i saw it (and it was at 3 AM) but seeing RO at midnight, i felt tired and bored for 2/3 of the movie, i'd say. like i said, i think i just need to see it again a couple more times. i think i saw TFA 3 times first week it was out. maybe 4... haha. i love that shit even still.

I saw TFA like 5 times the first week.

I have seen RO twice and will probably go catch an IMAX or dbox screening in a month or so and that will be it.

  20. I'll preface this by saying I'm pretty much just a casual Star Wars fan. I don't know all the history in the story and characters and everything, except for the main characters, of course. I've seen the original trilogy many, many times in my life and I love them just as much as the next guy, but I've only seen the prequels once or twice each. Not for me...

Anyway, to me, TFA was so much fun! It felt like a classic Star Wars movie. I loved that about it.

By the middle of Rogue One, I thought, "Man, this doesn't really FEEL like Star Wars to me." I can't place exactly why that is.

There was also a moment where I really noticed how meh the score was, and it took me out of the film there for a minute. It's the first time in any series where I've actually noticed a change in composer. I could tell that they were trying to go for that John Williams style, and it started to reach to what I expected to be a huge beautiful part, but it built up and up and up and then just... blahhhhh. I guess no one can touch the master.

    Unrelated side note:
There's a part in the Home Alone theme that sounds exactly like the part in Jurassic Park where "they do move in herds." Is John Williams known for recycling little parts here and there in his film scores? Just curious.

I don't rly think it was supposed to feel like Star Wars, haha

Yeah, I liked Rogue One because it didn't feel like a traditional Star Wars film; it was something new, different, fresh

  23. Maybe not. But I think to a random Jo Shmo who knows nothing about it other than it's a new Star Wars movie, I'd assume they wouldn't know that it wasn't supposed to feel like a Star Wars movie. I definitely went into it with the mindset that it was going to feel like a Star Wars movie. So maybe that's why I was disappointed-ish. I loved all the nods and tie-ins to the original trilogy in the movie though. Those parts made it feel more like I felt during The Force Awakens, and had me excited and smiling like a goof.

  24. Fair enough. I guess I just went into it with different expectations. That's why I feel like seeing it a second or third time might be better for me, because now I know what it is and I can enjoy it for that.

I agree w Ferrari, more or less. There were parts, tho, like the space battle at the end, that def reminded me of the original trilogy. I think that people would start to get that it's a bit different once the movie is populated with people they've never seen before, ha
