Hoooo boy Picard got intolerable fast To think I was excited about this show because I thought Chabon was competent
Yeah I though this latest episode of Picard solidified as a great show. Wasn't sure they'd be able to bring it all together in the end but I think theyve done it
It takes up to about #4 for it to really get going, before that it's a lot of world building and getting the 'crew' together.
I only got about that far and was just yelling at the TV “Get there!” at points. I’m excited to see what the show can do with its cast in place.
Majority of the scenes in Picard with Patrick Stewart in them are good, except for the terribad casino episode. The Riker episode was mostly great, except for the Soji stuff (pretty much the case in every episode, but at least Narek wasn't there to make me want to break my TV in half) The latest episode was some garbage, which is a shame because the one right before it where they actually explained what the fuck was going on and why we should care gave the impression they might be righting the ship a bit Can't wait for Discovery to come back; will be a breath of fresh air after this One episode left. Still waiting

Felt like Chabon wanted 3 things: -For Picard to be old and live on a vineyard with a dog -To show Starfleet being xenophobic -To give Data a proper goodbye And gave precisely zero fucks about any of the rest. Probably passed all that shit off to Kurtzman and Goldsman. Here, just fucking, I dunno, fill these ten hours inbetween with whatever bullshit gets me to Data's farewell. Kthanx
So I'm on season 4 and of course there are going to be bad episodes with weak writing, but jeeeezz... Anytime a show has the whole plot of an episode revolving around the main characters being deceived in such a way that defies all common sense and brazenly ignores the intelligence of the characters is horrid. It's like in a bad horror move when the character is about to open the door to where the killer is hiding and the whole audience goes "DON'T GO IN THERE." But I'm excited to see where the show goes in general. Can we talk about what a great actress Whoopi Goldberg is? I had no idea.
Why do they even bother with the other crew members when this show is clearly just Star Trek: The Journey Of Data?
Picard finale felt a bit odd in places One of the underlining themes of the first nine episodes of the show was the behavior of the federation, but then they send hundreds of warships to save one race of people and potentially create an intergalactic war?? That both doesn't mesh with how the federation was presented. Also even from a the perspective of technical feasibility... it would've weeks to mobilize a fleet like that and get Riker back into action. Yet they show up minutes after the Romulans do. Doesn't really make a lot of sense how that could happen. Also we're to believe that there is this super advance race out there and Romulans just go "yeah we had this whole secret organization dedicated to destroying synths but because they stopped sending the signal for now we're gonna just go away and assume they won't resend it?" Everything else I enjoyed but that whole bit was a pretty huge part of the whole season and they completely whiffed the landing on it.
Almost done with another run through TNG. I find that I've really warmed to all the Klingon political struggle episodes. But legit every Lore episode SUCKS. They are the opposite of Data episodes, which are the heart of the whole thing.
